Quote:I am sure that Cecil will receive an acceptable contract from the Jags - with incentives based on his health and ability to stay on the field.

That would only make sense.
Quote:Nah, he's done now. That last concussion did him in. Much like if Cecil gets another one, he's likely done too. But that doesn't stop the people from suggesting we run right out and hand him a long term big money deal.... smh....

How many concussions did Collie actually have? A heck of a lot more than Cecil's 2, that dude was getting carted off every other week.

While having had 2 concussions in a short space is not good, the fact that he hasn't had one for over a year suggests he is nowhere near the same injury risk as Austin Collie who could be the poster boy for the NFL's concussion problems.

The concerns about Shorts' concussion problems are minimal at this point.  It's the overall injury history that will serve as a bargaining chip for the team in getting an extension done.

Honestly, I think the 2 concussions Shorts had were really one concussion that simply wasn't given adequate time to resolve.  Once he was given proper healing time, he was fine.

In reality, the sports hernia injury last year is more of a concern than the concussions at this point.

Looking it up, that seems to be right, I put it down to the severity.

Shorts' concussions were nothing like this.

That game in Philly, I thought Collie might be dead.

I thought he was paralyzed tbh.

Nah.  It was clear he'd suffered a significant concussion.  The way his hands and arms drew up when he was on the ground are classic signs.  He was out cold.  Shorts never had a concussion that severe.
Quote:Hey, if Cecil's here, he's here....I still wouldn't give him a big money, long term deal. He's one concussion away from joining Austin Collie (oh, and Austin Collie was the better WR of the 2 as well)

I'm sure Cecil would have been the second coming of Jerry Rice if he had Peyton Manning throwing to him.
Ultimately, what we know is that the head coach has now said Cecil isn't going anywhere, and the GM has said the team has already reached out to his agent to begin extension discussions.  They haven't mentioned trading him, or moving on.  They've been pretty clear what their intentions are here.  Until something blows up, there's really nothing to discuss.

The idea that Cecil wasn't going to be here is utterly laughable, and only resides in the bizarre fantasy world of internet messageboards.    The only cap implications the Jags have to worry about is how to reach the mandated cap floor when the new TV revenue comes in  when their QB position is cost controlled until 2019 for a pittance.
We'll keep hearing words of wisdom about C3PO until he's no longer on the team. Regardless of how he tries to deflect it, TMD's always had some sort of problem with Shorts.
Once we develop Gus and market his Gus Juice, we can trade him for two first round picks.
Quote:Yeah, because what I stated wasn't true, right?

Get bent, tool.
I thought you said you attack the post, not the poster?

Quote:Well I think I  ended that argument, or does TMD have some [BAD WORD REMOVED] rebuddle?

In a day or two we'll see:

"I must have been drunk when I posted that."

Then he'll turn his attention back to Marcedes after he claims the club "listened to his advice."

In the Hall of Fame for weak TMD excuses, that ranks up near the top.

"Hall of Shame"
It's interesting to look at the video of Collie's concussions.

It's interesting to look at the video of his concussions.  In the first, he might have had his "bell rung" on the initial helmet-to-helmet hit, then the back of his head hit the turf pretty hard.  There really is no way to say that it happened from the helmet-to-helmet hit or the hit when his head hit the turf.

In the second video, one of the lead comments from the announcers was that he was "just back from a concussion", and in that scenario, once again his head hit the turf pretty hard.  It is possible that perhaps he was on the field just a bit early, though there is no evidence of that.

Either way, I don't see Shorts looking for the "big payday" out of this next contract, and I would hardly say that "he's one concussion away" from his career being over.

Uhhh, I do only attack the post. However, when I am attacked first, as I was with the quote you cited, I can & will defend myself.
