Quote:I think the defense is overrated. Watt is obviously a great player and a superstar. But outside of him? Meh.

Good post. I agree. Their defense is not near the force it was (maybe their draft will re-tool it,, remains to be seen).

- Cushing can't stay healthy.

- J Joseph played great his first season with them, but has been injured and a liability quite often.

Lost "key" players from that stout defense from 2-3 seasons ago:

Antonio Smith

Daniel Manning

Demeco Ryans

Connor Barwin

New names with different faces (Swearinger erases Manning)  and you're reaching with listing DeMeco  Ryans.. as he didn't even contribute here "2-3 seasons years ago"

On your list the only player I'm worried about replacing is Antonio Smith, who was fading last season, Nix should help up the middle though and they replaced Connor Barwin with Jadeveon Clowney.. Not a bad trade off.

Oh,, I thought DeMeco was really contributing during the first year of playoffs for you guys,, sry if mistaken.

I know Barwin wasn't really anything special,, but I recall him getting a lot of pressures because of the play of some other guys. And yes, Barwin for Clowney should be a great trade-off. But, it's a change, and Clowney has yet to play a down. So, we'll see.

My point was to mean that the defense has had alot of name changes over the past few seasons.
Isn't Swearinger the guy who kept giving up bonehead penalties against the Jags last year? That was one of the worst individual performances I've ever seen. Hopefully he carries on that way.

We're all thinking the same thing. Hoping on hope, hanging on a prayer.

Yes he is.

It was one of the biggest single game meltdowns by a DB I can remember.

Surprising to me, because he was a guy I wanted to draft.

But I'm glad he's on the Texans, and I'm glad he melted down for them, and hope he continues.

swearinger is awful, he looks lost most of the time, full of penalties. pretty big hitter but whiffs a lot. antonio smith ill agree is a huge loss, and barwin is a proven player whom i really like, talented guy, high motor. clowney has proven nothing. i think nix is the best draft pick for the texans. got him late and he should be a beast.

forgot about ryans, he was fast and all over the field. i think he declined a little due to injury, but he was huge for the texans when they had him. they did good moving him before he fell off.
