He dominated much of the season and against good competition. Not sure you could ask a rookie corner to play better than he did.

Ramsey's job is to defend passes, either by break up, interception or forcing the opponent to choose an option that he is not defending. Ramsey has done a little bit of all of those things, but not enough of any of them to be considered one of the best at his position.

Bosa's job is to apply pressure to the QB, in the form of hurries knock downs and sacks. Considering he is top 15 in the league in sacks, I'd say he is doing his job well. He will more than likely win the award, deservedly so.

If he's not one of the best at his position then who's all these players in the entire league you'd take over him at that spot?

These awards are crap but how can a rookie take off a quarter of the season not injury related and still win something? That's just how I feel about Brady winning the MVP this year would be a sham. But most of these awards and recognitions are soaked in favoritism and market influenced.

He is also tied for the most interceptions among rookies and is tied for second in pass breakups. With 102 tackles, 11 pass breakups, three interceptions, two defensive touchdowns and a forced fumble to his credit, Jones is probably the favorite for the award. The Falcons are 10-5 so far this season, which helps Jones' cause.

Just further illustrating that proper application of stats is needed by previous posters. If Ramsey wins the award I will be hyped. Just not expecting it.

Yeah it's kinda funny that he posts these jaw dropping numbers for Jones and then dons those teal colored glasses and gives his vote to Ramsey anyway.

I find it amusing that everyone has danced around the issue of hype.  ESPN will decide who wins this.  Not stats, not effectiveness but pure hype.  Kind of like how MJD lost to Young because ESPN said so.

Jones should win with those numbers. I didn't even know he had those numbers. If it was Bosa vs Ramsey I'd still vote Ramsey

  Whether Joey Bosa deserves to win the award or not,  the hype factor dating back to his days with Ohio State and the pre-draft process likely will factor in heavily in Bosa winning the award.  Especially,  when combining his stats and a good performance on National TV against the Broncos back in October.

  Yet,  even with the numbers and the Falcons winning the NFC South Title,  Deion Jones has to overcome a relatively low national profile.   One of his impact plays was on MNF in New Orleans,  when he ran back an interception for a TD.   However,  that was on the night of one of the Presidential Debates..   The ratings for that game were low.

True. It's surprising how many people don't even know about his stats. That could be a telling sign of his chances.

  Admittedly,   I've seen less Falcons games in 2016 than compared to the other 3 teams in the NFC South and compared to most teams in the NFL this season.   I was certainly surprised to see the numbers posted regarding Deion Jones.   Because the Falcons haven't had much prime time exposure,   it's an uphill battle for players other than Matt Ryan and Julio Jones to get recognition this season.   That should change if they have a deep playoff run.

Bosa may win..but don't throw out the 9 sacks in 11 games as reason for why. He could have had more sacks had he played early in the year. He wasn't hurt, he chose to sit. While that's on him and whether or not you agree with him doing so, I'm still looking at it as 9 sacks in 16 games. That being said, if Ramsey has another game like the last two weeks, I think he gets it.

Or he could've been injured or performed poorly. There's no telling. I think Bosa wins this no matter what, but Ramsey's 4 extra games performing at a high level should be considered too. I don't even care. Ramsey continues performing like he did this year, and he'll be one of the best before he calls it quits.

To answer this thread, if Ramsey doesn't win, it will be because he faced other very deserving candidates not because he's a jag.

He should have had 3 picks against the stinking tacks.  Just saying.
