I want to say first I am not a Henne Hater like many on this board. I believe Henne to be a serviceable veteran. The flat out truth is the guy just does not practice well. Henne was out performed by Blaine Gabbert in practice last year. He did outperform Gabbert in real game time but still not at the level you want your Qb to play.
I know Caldwell says he wants Bortles to sit for the year but he also preaches open competition. If Bortles clearly outpeforms Henne in training camp, how do you sit him? Another question is who decides the starting QB. It usually is the Head coach but the jaguars seem to work as a trio with bradley, caldwell, and Shad calling the shots.
Tough call
Second year with the system over no experience in the pros. Henne starts, anything after that is up to Henne.
I think Henne starts the season and Bortles finishes it. Hopefully bortles only has to get out there for 4 games but you never know. I expect Bortles to impress in preseason and make the decision difficult.
Henne starts the season.
Bortles overtakes him before the season ends.

Tough call
Shad has made it clear he doesn't try to interfere with the GM and coaches decisions.
Bradley/Scelfo will decide when Bortles plays if Henne is healthy.

Sounds like a plan.
I still think they will stick to the plan and Chad plays. but Blake will end the season more than likely.
The only way Bortles starts the season would be due to Henne injury. There's no way this regime follows in the steps of the previous
I think this is a stupid question because the OP knew what Caldwell said about sitting Bortles for a year. When the Bengals told Carson Palmer he would be a bench warmer his first season they meant it: He did not take a single snap in the regular season. Next question?

PMS MUCH?
It's not stupid question. Just because a GM says something does not mean it it always true. You can't preach competition in one ear and then sit a player who is clearly outperforming another just because.

When did David Caldwell preach competition? All he said was Henne will start this year and Bortles will start next year - meaning there will be
no competition.
Henne leads the jaguars to the super bowl. Caldwell then trade bortles.

Maybe instead of acting like a total jackwagon, you should just skip over the questions you deem stupid. That way we don't have to listen to your whining about it.
Don't like it, don't participate.

I think this is a very likely scenario although Henne is probably going to play pretty well with the competition and the added weapons and the additional year in the system. It may be difficult to justify it but at some point Gus has to pull the trigger.
I'd like it to be Bortles. I'm tired of Henne
Unless Bortles tears it up before the season I think Henne will start.
You've got the chance of a "10 year starter", why risk ruining it for 1 season.
Bortles shouldn't start until he's ready, I think with our new weapons Henne might actually get us to a .500 record
Remember how awful Henne had been in camp and preseason? Gabbert looked legitimately better than him...
Henne will start until the coaches determine Bortles is the better option, which might be week 2!

If Bortles beats him out I don't see why he shouldn't start.
