Quote:Most quarterbacks will get hurt by a blind-side hit by a big and powerful end like Clowney.
Will he "die" from it? That's laughable.
But you do that while you ignore the facts that I laid out....big, strong, and mobile quarterbacks that takes hit get hurt more often, misses more games, and have shorter careers than these smaller quarterbacks that doesn't take as much of a pounding.
Didn't ignore your "facts"... just don't care about them

Well you certainly won this debate

hahahaha youre wasting your energy arguing with that guy. teddy has taken plenty of hits in college and everyone wants to use the clowney example. there are stronger guys out there than clowney that are gonna be hitting teddy and bortles alike. these are nfl qbs. they can take a hit, no one is going to die. idk why but that guy just hates teddy. either way i think teddy and bortles will both have good careers. i hope the jags brass picked the one who winds up having the better career though.
Good backup I guess. Doesn't have good game speed and YAC but has good hands and is a good route runner.

lol "That guy hates Teddy".. Also.. the whole Teddy dying thing was a joke... Are you related to JW?
I actually don't hate Teddy... I just don't care about him anymore. People are continuing to back him on this board when he has nothing to do with this team.
If the Jags played the Vikings, would you be pulling for Teddy saying "Look at that pocket presence!"

no dude but there are plenty of players on other teams that i like or root for. when they play the jaguars, all i care about is the jags winning. im sure plenty of people are the same way. just because i objectively defend teddy doesnt mean i want him to be a jaguar killer.

Did you not say the same when you watched Tom Brady go against us?
Did you not say "man look at Peyton's command of the huddle" when he faced us? Did you not say, with the Jags up by a TD and Peyton getting the ball with less than 2 mins left "Man...this game isn't over yet", then proceeded to scream your lungs out as you chanted "Defense! Defense!"
Just because I'm a fan of the Jaguars doesn't mean I can't be objective with players of other teams., nor does it mean that I should be blinded when it comes to the weaknesses of those in my team.
Quote:Tell that to Drew Brees.
why? Drew Brees was taken in the 2nd
Quote:Tell that to Drew Brees.
why even draft a qb? See Warren Moon, Tony Romo and Kurt Warner
Quote:why? Drew Brees was taken in the 2nd
Drew Brees was taken 32nd overall.
Quote:Drew Brees was taken 32nd overall.
Which at the time was the second round.
Quote:Bridgewater plays a similar style to guys like Brees, Manning, and Brady. Drew Brees has practically started every game since he became a starter. Same with Tom Brady with the exception of one big injury that caused him to miss nearly a season. Same with Peyton Manning, who only got shelved late in his career with the neck injury. Brady is in his 15th season, Manning his 17th, and Brees his 14th season.
One of the biggest praise I hear from people is that Bortles plays like Ben Roethlisberger: He's big, he's mobile, and he stands tall and takes a hit while delivering a pass.
Roethlisberger has had seasons where he missed 4, 4, and 3 games...while being banged up in a lot more. He's just in his 11th season.
Another "big, strong, and mobile" quarterback is David Garrard...who dealt with injuries (and missed games, giving way to starts to Quinn Gray). He had back problems that ended his career far to short, regardless of how you feel about his ability as a quarterback.
Need another example of a "big, strong, and mobile" quarterback? Steve McNair. Despite barely playing his first 2 seasons, McNair was done after year 13. He had seasons missing 5 games, 2 games, 8 games, 2 games, and 10 games (though this last one was towards the end of his career...at age 34...albeit still at an age where Manning, and Brees are still going strong).
Yes..."big, strong, and mobile" guys can take a hit. But as these notable "big, strong, and mobile" guys have shown...they are also the type to take more of pounding than the "smaller, weaker, pocket passers"
And only Brady has more rings than Ben. I won't lie I am big on Bridgewater but Bortles can play there is no doubt. If they stuck to the plan this guy could be a top qb in the league.
Quote:All that video did was make me scratch my head as to why we passed on Teddy for Bortles.
Lots of teams passed on Sewagewater. Maybe those GM's see something that the teddy brigade didnt see.

Couldn't be. Don't you know? The entire NFL tossed 3 years of game tape on Bridgewater and disregarded hundreds of scouts opinions and based their entire evaluation on Teddy's pro day.

That seems to be the consensus around here..

And yet as good as Ben is, Pitt would have swapped him for Aaron Rodgers, Peyton, Brady, and Brees (New Orleans)...but not the other way around.

what does that have to do with what he said?

That how many rings a QB has isn't the be-all/end-all of a QB's success?
