Quote:Lots of teams passed on Sewagewater. Maybe those GM's see something that the teddy brigade didnt see.
this line of thinking doesnt make sense. that means pretty much any player taken after round 1 must not be good.
there are plenty of qbs that were passed over and turned out to be better than the round 1 crop.

Yes they drop but they dropped because they were projected to be a 2nd round or later pick. They obviously got better but their projections were low (Brady and Romo)
The way some people are talking about Teddy though makes it seem like the Texans have to be the dumbest team ever because they didn't take him. People are STILL hyping up a player that now plays for the Vikings.
Quote:That how many rings a QB has isn't the be-all/end-all of a QB's success?
It's not? Yikes... I guess Manning is glad he set all those records and didn't win the Super Bowl.
No rings is the reason someone like Marino is looked at differently. It's the reason Elway was looked at like a failure until he won and it's the reason Manning was called a "choke artist" until he won.

This is correct for the individual qb but to the franchise is it more important to lose two and win one (Peyton) or lose one and win two (Big Ben)? We are trying to become an elite franchise right?

So you take Big Ben over Peyton for the life of your franchise?

If the trade off is titles over setting records?
Absolutely.

Isn't that what we're talking about here? The individual quarterback?
Besides, even taking into account the Steelers two rings...who had more sustained success...Pitt with Ben or Indy with Peyton?
LoL....kids say the darndest thing trying to "win" an argument. All things equal, you rather take Ben R as your QB than Peyton?

in the playoffs yes.
If the ultimate goal is to win a title, and Manning has proven he can do it once, but not again, while Roethlisberger has more than one, I'm taking the Lombardi's. It's not like Big Ben has been awful throughout the rest of his career.

You have to get in the playoffs first to actually play in the playoffs.

So you take Ben R. over ring-less Marino?

If big Ben was on that Den team last year they have a much better chance at winning the SB than the biggest choke artist of all time! Big Ben is clutch

Absolutely if the trade off is 2 titles. You prefer records over your team winning it all?

So you would rather win the regular season title than win the Super Bowl? Got it.
Titles over anything else... I dont care who the QB is... a title trumps all.
And how in the world did we get to this point? Are you saying Teddy is more like a manning where Blake is more like Ben? THEY HAVEN'T PLAYED AN NFL GAME YET.
Watched his tape before and honestly wasn't overly impressed. He seemed ok, but for his size his game speed doesn't match. He may end up being a poss. guy at best imo.

I prefer winning year in and year out. But good on you folks. I'll take ring-less Dan Marino while you celebrate Brad Johnson's title. After all, it's not like Brad Johnson was a bad quarterback.

Someone commented that only Brady has more rings than Big Ben, as if that is proof that Big Ben is superior to quarterbacks like Manning, Brees, and Rodgers.
Now why did Big Ben enter the conversation? Because someone commented that Bridgewater can't take a hit from Clowney. I discussed Big Ben (one of the most comment comparisons for Bortles) to show that strong, mobile quarterbacks, while they can take hits also take more pounding and thus miss more games and have shorter careers than quarterbacks who play mostly in the pocket (ala Brady, Manning, Brees, etc...and thus Bridgewater)
Bridgewater is not a Jaguar. How about go to that teams website and join and follow that team since you have such a love affair with a guy that isn't a Jaguar.
