Quote:I'll take a average QB who doesn't throw pick sixes more consistently than he throws TDs and GUS good ol Bradley and we're playoff bound this year no question.  I'll let others blame GUS though.

You seem awful bitter that the Jags won today..which is odd considering you have season tickets. I think most people will agree that Blake has been a major problem this year, but today proved what a competent head coach can do with this team. Gus was a horrible head coach no matter how you keep trying to spin it.
Quote:Not so sure. The offense showed alot of new wrinkles with their route combinations on offense. Defensively i noticed alot more man coverage and less bad matchups (LB vs WR etc).

There was an emotional and discipline boost for sure but schematically things were different too.
There were a bunch of things different.

The entire team LOOKED AND BEHAVED different.

Blake still had horrible throws but even they were kept to a minimum

I'm not bitter at all, and actually defend my jags weekly through everything.  I just expected this response from reading all of the uninformed comments on the MB every week.  Members blaming players, the coach etc.  NOW we win after firing the coach and instantly everyone's happy and praising the new interim running the same OFFensive and DEFensive plays.  Oh and a few new adjustments lol.  I love my jags but his forum can be pathetic to read sometimes.  Its hard to refer someone to the board who has more knowledge of the team and why it struggles than registered fans of said team.  smh.

EDIT:  To put it simply.  Everyone at work today was laughing at how the Jags were running the same plays and saying if the defense collapses we'll lose again but if they hold we win.  Then i come online and see everyone giddy about the new Jags like something miraculous happened in the last 2 days.  its pathetic honestly.  Fan on though.

What's pathetic is you in here [BLEEP] about winning when the change to this team's attitude and execution now that a real coach is in place is clearly visible on the field.
We didn't let off the gas like we typically do with a lead. Good mix of conservative and aggressive play calling (Offense and defense).

No i'm not, whatever you said, about winning.  I'm talking about the FANS on here getting overly excited about players knowing their scheme could change and they could be out the door, playing to their potential like they have before.  Grown men playing like grown men with their talent should, doesn't excite me when its at the expense of a firing.  Just like a contract year for a player.  Give me some substance and competent play for a full season like this then i'll praise MARRONE.

Running your predecessors offense doesn't excite me because a few plays unwatched from no game film worked.  If thats what the excitement is about then yeah, count me out.  I'm happy the team played well again finally like they have before under GUS.

This team looked nothing like today while under Gus at any point this year.
How often in the last four years have you seen this team

take the lead in the first quarter, hold it and totally ice it in the fourth quarter?

heard on the radio...the pingpong tables are gone, no food in team room......and Doug is getting the next group ready after a play is run....not clapping like a clown with rahrah stuff after the play is run

Not often.

The Fiddy burger we put up against the Colts leaps to mind.

As fun as that one was, I think this was more satisfying.

The tittians are a pretty good team, we didn't beat up on Ol' Man Hasslewhiner this time.
How is this even A FREAKING QUESTION?

DOES IT LOOK LIKE THE TEAM LACKS TALENT ON PAPER???

this team was collectively agreed upon prior to the season as being STACKED

get gus bradley out of jacksonville, I don't even want him getting near high school football before that beer belly cheerleader starts turning them into losers as well

I've said it all season and will say it again. We have talent in this team, it was being mismanaged.

I would love to know what this team could have done this year with a real coach but we can only go forward.
Quote:I'm not a fan of Caldwell, but with proper discipline this team would have been significantly better and probably won the AFC South this year.   Like the players have been saying, Gus just was too slack and didn't push the players to be their best.

Example: early in the game, one of the announcers was talking about the transition to Marrone, and they said Marrone had laid out some new team rules, and one of them was, no eating during meetings.   When I heard that I went, WHAT????   Gus let them EAT DURING MEETINGS???
Quote:Trust me when i say this.  Receivers don't perfect new routes in 2 days to beat defenses.  Its the same playbook but i don't want to be a debbie downer to the kids.  Enjoy whatever feelings are to be enjoyed today.
Man we have had a really bad season and last 8 years.  He had a short week and blew out a division rival with only 4 days of practice.  One who if won today and next week wins the afc south.  And blew them out.  That speaks volumes.

I would hate him to do the same next week. And hire some one else and shoot ourselves in the foot.

Of course, Hot fudge, whipped cream, s.p.r.i.n.k.l.e.s, and I.C.E. C.R.E.A.M.E.
Poz is an old vet. Everyone should listen to his words. When he says everyone inside the locker room was saying "Oh blank, it could be me next" he meant it. It doesn't matter if it's a 1st round draft choice or the head coach, you don't perform at game time you are gone. These players play for MONEY. Let's not pretend any differently. At this point in the season on a losing team getting cut may be a death sentence to the money stream.

Most teams plays with that constant pressure, the Pats always have. They get a penalty and the man gets pulled. A few bonehead plays and they get cut. If a starter demands too much money they get released.  It's no nonsense, and that attitude runs through Coughlin and through Belichick. Players who start for buddy-buddy coaches always have the next play to improve, the next game to raise their stats. Right now they are playing for the money, meaning their jobs. It's the biggest incentive they have to play 4 quarters of complete football.

Great game no matter how you look at it and the fact that it was against the tacks makes it all the sweeter.  Great Christmas present from the Jags to the fans.  With that said, it was one game.  Not ready to anoint Marrone just yet as any competent coach is bound to be an improvement after the last few years with Bradley.  Let's see how the team does in the final game of the season.  I do think they should have them on the short list of candidates though, they've said several times they want a leader with previous head coaching experience.  If they do retain him as HC, how about bringing in Coughlin as President of Football Operations and demoting Caldwell (assuming he'll accept it) to President of Player Personnel?

I don't think Caldwell deserves a demotion.  Yesterday's game showed that this team has a lot of talent, and that's his main job.

And he let them wear hoodies which means some were probably also wearing earbuds, not to mention the slouchy posture and attitude that goes with looking so 'cool'.

I tend to agree that he's brought in some good talent.  He's missed a couple of times (most GMs do) and he really missed on the HC.  Leaving Caldwell in his current position might rule out some potential HC candidates though.
