Why didn't Ivory just go straight down rather than doing that timid weird stop?

These announcers are absolutely horrid. They show Ivory on the bench with his hamstring being looked at and still say "Why did he stop, he could have gained more yards"... uhh hello? 

Whew!!!! It shouldn't have come down to that, at least it cost the tacks a TO.
