Great great pick.  This kid will compete for a starting CB positon in the 2015 season.

Give him a year to learn and get healthy and I think he will be a solid DB. Good grab 2nd round talent before the injury hopefully he comes back to his full form and becomes a steal.

So, I got to announce this pick at Radio City - what an incredible experience! Duval was well represented and the guys I met were friendly (as have all Jag fans I've met in both Jax and NYC the last few days).

Really pleased that I got to announce a player who I get the feeling is gonna be a big time guy, when he gets healthy he's gonna really cause WRs and QBs fits and he's gonna be playing with a huge chip because he would have been taken higher if he hadn't gotten injured.

Anyhow, amazing, once in a lifetime experience. Can't wait to get back to Jax in the future and bring my son to a game. It's a lovely place, I couldn't be happier to be part of the Jag family. #DTWD
Oh, and here's me at the jags table about to announce; https://twitter.com/unionjaxjoe/status/4...4407136256

Noice!
Just watched his game against Baylor this year. I thought he was great. Physical, nice coverage.

Caldwell called him a starter in 2015. Obviously they are extremely high on him.

but look at the draft...

Bortles...

Lee....

Colvin....

Theres a chance that Bortles won't be ready to make much of an impact until 2015.

Lee might not be "truly" 100% (2012 form) until 2015.

Colvin obviously is a question mark to be 100% until 2015...

I think we will be improved in 2014, but I see them making a serious statement in 2015 as far as wins go.

Is there any specific information that indicates Marqise Lee realistically won't be 100 % for the 2014 regular season?

Until reading your post,  I was under the impression that Lee is expected to be recovered from all of his previous injuries.

Nothing really specific, tbh, I just keep reading a lot of "if Lee is healthy" type comments from a lot of NFL writers. Then there was the rumor that teams were taking him off their board because of the knee....its just something thats "there"....ya know.

Thanks for your input.    When thinking of Marqise Lee as a prospect going into the draft,  my concern was more along the lines of whether he would be durable enough over the long term.   But this was under the assumption of Lee going in the first 25 picks.   I certainly didn't anticipate Lee lasting to pick # 39.   At that point in the draft,  at least on the surface,  the risk/ reward looks very favorable for the Jaguars.

Even if Marqise Lee's knee injury was concerning for some teams,   I would be surprised if any team completely took him off his draft board.   It's more likely that they lowered his draft grade.
I didnt watch many Okla. games but this watching this I just hope it was his worst game.  Gave up 3 TDs, a missed tackle, and gave up a couple of other receptions.

poor sample size.. Can't judge a player off one game.

Give me a bigger sample then?  Never said you could judge a player off one game, I said I hope that was his worst game!  How many good corners get beat for 3 TDs in a game?

You have seen a lot of his games?

I've only watched a little tape on him but I'm just trusting Caldwell and many people were saying had he not been hurt he would have been a first round pick.
Quote:With "jar on the shelf" I meant someone they were going to have to sit and wait for...someone who can't participate straight away. Perhaps I used the term incorrectly..

This was a great move. These are the types of moves winning organizations make because they are building with the future in mind. The 49ers are notorious for taking a guy that got hurt just to let him heal and ball out the next year. We have the luxury of doing that because this regime is not in a win now mode. They know they a have a few more years before Khan starts expecting playoffs. This is what building for the future.

When it starts coming together a year or two from now people will applaud the job Caldwell and Bradley have done.

On thing I remember Vic saying a few years ago is that you want to get good but not to fast. Let the process take it's course and when it comes together there will be superstars on this team we had no clue about when they first came. Colvin may be one of them.

Yeah, many sites were labeling Colvin as at least a 2nd round talent had the injury not occured, so, I am sure they were saying that also aware of that ONE game that flatroll&jags is citing.

troll? haha you have no room to call anyone a troll. You are the biggest troll this board has ever seen
Aaron Colvin is legit (as long as the recovery goes well). Starting CB, potential top 10 in AFC upon development.
