and?

It makes complete sense. Manziels game will not change or elevate. Blakes game will change and elevate. Making him have more potential, and Manziel being more pro ready, for now.

He did not go back on his word. He played some serious poker that's all. GM's cant give out information on who they are picking. Especially that high in the Draft. Believe in Dave to do his job but doing the Draft it's game time. Cant trust nobody until its time to pick. Its like being a client of a good lawyer. You know he's lowdown & cant be trusted but he always wins his cases. Its all about results Baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHAT?!?!?! gm's dont run everything they are doin by me??? stupid gm's... they should have a laptop in the warroom strictly for posting what they are doin on this board
You don't have to worry about Caldwell going back on his word.

He's screwing up really bad. Guys that come in and want to win later then draft poorly never last long.

This is his second draft. Apart from Luke Joeckel he's done nothing to improve the talent level of the roster. It's highly likely he will continue to screw up the rest of this draft.

You don't tuck a number three quarterback pick away. The talent level in return for that pick has to be elite. That's not my opinion either. That's the way it goes.

A number one to number three over-all pick quarterback has elite level talent across the board. There are no flaws whatsoever in his game. From day one, despite being a rookie his game is advanced to that of a season NFL veteran. He starts right away and immediately makes his team Super Bowl contenders. Bortles is none of that.

Caldwell and Bradley are gonna have to play Bortles right away. If he's not ready by the start of next season, he's a bust without even playing a regular season snap.

Bortles is what you get when you over-draft quarterback to make a player to fit the need you think you have.

I'm pretty sure you're the weirdest poster on here...ever.

It worked.  NOBODY thought we were shooting for Bortles.  This is why it was such a shock.  People have been saying that Bortles would be going in the top 5 for months, with some saying Houston could take him 1st overall.  The shock is simply that we were the ones who picked them.

Good job to Dave and Gus for keeping this so close to the chest.

What did you expect him to do?  Post his draft board on facebook maybe?  No GM in the league is going to make public his true draft intentions and to believe otherwise is simply naive.

"Most pro ready" does not translate into most likely to be successful in the pros.

Telling Blake it "has been him the whole time", doesn't necessarily make it true.  Probably makes Blake feel good though.

Yeah, you're not personally attacking anyone, right?

Look, you're more than entitled to act like an idiot about this pick if it makes you feel better.  In the end, you have no idea where Bortles career will wind up.  If he turns out to be exactly what Caldwell expects, I'm sure you'll find some way to continue complaining.

Wow......?
He utilizes an awful lot of verbiage to say pretty much nothing intelligent and oft times complete gibberish.

But hey, he is consistent.

If he turns in to what Caldwell expects I will be thrilled and my opinion of the pick will be altered obviously. Much like your opinion of Mr. Khan has altered greatly since the beginning when you were throwing out borderline bigotry towards him. As far as continuing to complain thing it shows your tendency to assume incorrectly. I have close to zero history of complaining about this organization.

What?  The draft is a poker match.  He wanted Houston to pick Manziel who will be out of this league in 4 years.
Just a comment on GMs/coaches and the draft..... You WANT a coach/gm to lie when quoted. You want other teams to have no idea what they are up to. Yeah as a fan youd like to know but be real, its better for a team to be unpredicatable

Wow......?

THat has to be Dexter, right?
I felt the comment was intended to lure a nice offer for a trade, possibly from Cleveland if they wanted to go Manziel at 4. Of course before the draft, I felt we were about to draft Manziel.
