I refuse to believe this.

EDIT: But I'm sort of glad I don't have to worry about it.
They have said multiple times that they target people with a passion for the sport. Clowney doesn't fit that bill.
Polian is never scripted. He just looks like the Jaguars' PR department provided a POW confession statement.

B, at the end of the day caldwell had to get his guy this year so better to oversell on a guy he believed in than potentially miss out

as much as I would have liked us to take mack , clowney was gone and we strengthened the defensive line this year through fa which gives us time to find a young stud de perhaps next year plus we can find out what we have in ryan davis and andre branch. Particularly davis who came on strong last year and I was scared would be a casualty is we drafted de.

Added I'm a big fan of Kareem Martin who I think we could trade back and get in the second round added there are some very good defensive tackles sliding out of the first in nix, hageman and jernigan however it sounds like we will be picking on the offensive side of the ball for most of this draft. I also like the look of sau filo to be our right guard of the future or marcus martin to be our centre( though i would prefer to wait til the 3rd)

This is a very deep draft for wide receivers this year so I'm not to bothered by missing out on watkins. He is very good but he doesnt have the size to be megatron good  and I think you need to be the complete package to be drafted at 3. Myself I like our options with moncrief being my guy as the big potential guy in the draft. He has the speed and the size to be a number one in the nfl

The thing that put me off Watkins was his suspension for pot back in college. We've had far too many high pick WR go off the rails to risk another doing it.

I disagree.  I thought the Texans should have grabbed a QB if they thought there was one that could be a franchise guy.  When you have a need at QB, that becomes your #1 priority, even if there is a guy like Clowney there.  They have Watt too, so that makes it even easier, but maybe they just disagreed with our assessment of Bortles.

Houston have screwed themselves if they can't find a QB. The top 3 guys are gone and you think about the D we're building here, they're going to need more than Fitzpatrick or that jock kid to put up points.
A
A solid A.
Top 5 pick next year here we come

C-.

Vs. 4 ranked opponents, Bortles threw 9 INTs in those 4 games.  Meh.
A +++++++++++++++++++

Only time will tell.  If Clowney becomes dominant and these top QBs fizzle, then they will look pretty good.  I am not sure that will be the case though and their offense is going to struggle this year.  Clowney won't be much of an impact when he's on the field for 70% of the game getting run on every play.
I'll give it an incomplete.

Despite what all of the 'experts' were saying, I am not at all surprised they went QB.

I'm surprised it was Bortles.

What the hell. None of them were perfect. Just have to hope Caldwell's evaluation skills are better than Smith's or Harris'. Not much point throwing a hissy-fit now like some of the whiners.
The Bortles pick is an A for sure.

In February, Gus was asked what they look for when evaluating a QB.  He said three traits:  Timing, Accuracy and Decision Making.

The jaguars did a great job keeping their pick under wraps and fooled everyone from ESPN, to 1010XL, to the fans.  We should be proud of that.

Here are the quotes from ESPN

On Blake Bortles:  "...we're really intrigued by him. The traits that he has, big, tall, things that we talked about before, timing, accuracy, decision making, those are all things that we take a close look at...."

I voted C.  I would have liked mack or Watkins here but if they really believe in this kid then time will tell

it's an F if the Bills offered us the same deal they offered Cleveland

Solid A

I'm being generous with a C. I guess we'll see how it goes. Dave ks betting the farm that this will be his pick to make his tenure.
I gave them a C. I was really hoping for Mack . . . I think the Jags might have traded up in the 20s to get Bortles or another quarterback and they would have filled both needs.

F because it wasn't Tebow or J-Football.
