No, they're setting bar high, I am sure they'd work with a team if they truly want out of that spot though. But I don't see any team giving 3 ones away.

I'm liking that it's looking like they're in a tough spot right now.

Hahahahaha no way.

Quote:Per NFL.com. I don't think any team is gonna give them that. It's a lot of overhaulin' work to develop a draft prospect into a number one over-all pick, especially one with more red flags flapping in the wind than Red Square did in the heyday of the Soviet Empire.
Today, and only today, Jadeveon Clowney is as high as he ever will be. For a guy that got three sacks last year, the Texans and their media influence deserve a lot of credit making him the greatest player in the history of organized sports on a single running back sack.

Setting the bar high is one thing, but making it out of reach is another. 3 first round picks? Come on.
05-08-2014, 08:48 AM
3 first rounders? Good luck with that. They've overestimated the market.
The Tank4Teddy crowd is going to have a hard time spinning this if the report is accurate.
In the end, Houston is going to be stuck at #1, and it wouldn't shock me to see them draft anyone but Clowney.

Can't really blame them for trying, but seriously. They're not going to find a trade partner at that price.
My guess is based on the asking price they aren't as interested in trading out of 1 as the media wants to portray it. But, if someone is willing to pay THAT price, they'll be happy to take the deal and drop out of the top spot.

I would be shocked. If you value a guy being worth 3 first rounders he better be your pick.

I don't think they're valuing the guy. They're valuing the position.

translation: we, the texans want clowney, unless any team is crazy enough to vastly overpay for him.

per rotoworld: (they lowered the price and its still a HAUL)
The Houston Chronicle now says the Texans are asking for a first, second, and third-rounder this year plus a first-rounder in 2015 in exchange for Thursday's No. 1 overall pick.
It's actually a little less than previous reports that had the Texans asking for three first-round picks and a second-rounder, and it's further evidence they're not sold on South Carolina DE Jadeveon Clowney. Of course, a lot will depend on exactly where the team wanting to trade up is picking. Either way, the Texans will remain open for business all the way up until 8pm ET Thursday and the asking price could very well drop even further as we get closer. The Falcons and aggressive GM Thomas Dimitroff remain the most likely candidate to move up.

The Texans will be at the podium announcing their first pick in a little over 9 hours.

I don't think it's really that much of a haul. That's pretty standard if you're at the top of the draft and move back 5+ spots.

Um, so they are trading down, huh?....

edit: disregard....I thought the draft started earlier..
