Quote:Pick the guy who comes seemingly out of no where then after blowing up the combine is declared the best thing ever.
That would be: Byron Jones
I disagree with this. I heard there's not a lot of tape on him simply because oppenents never threw his way. Same exact thing they said about Revis when he came out. Not saying he's the next Revis, just saying I think he's going to be good.
I totally thought I had posted in this thread last year? Meh I went the easy route with Clowny and Johny bench.
This year...
Both top QBs in Mariota and Winston.
Trae Waynes
Shane Ray
Byron Jones
Brandon Scherff
Melvin Gordon
Given if we some how draft any of them Ill cheer em.
Shane Ray seems to be my gut feeling. But I think that Dj Humphries (tackle from Florida) will he over drafted. wasn't there a lot of buz about him being a fringe 1st rounder at one point??
I'll go. Can't wait for next year to see if I've absolutely whiffed.
Breshad Perriman
Andrus Peat
Malcom Brown
Cedric Ogbuehi
Maxx Williams
Marcus Mariota
It's a bit conservative, but oh well.
First off, Pirkster's picks and disagreements were impressive.
I didn't make a prediction last year, but in all honesty I'd have chosen Bortles.
This year I'll go with Perriman and Mariota.
Quote:Some of the replies earlier in this thread are hilarious. I was soooo wrong about Mack!
Someone said Odell Beckham AND Aaron Donald were going to bust lol!
I said OBJ, I never thought he would have did what he did. I knew he had the speed and athleticism but he has the whole package and def. proved me wrong. Not so bad on the other ones though
Very fun to look back, most were very wrong.
I think Mariota, Winston (off the field issues and will lack the desire to learn the game at this level), and Gregory.
I'll throw Melvin Gordon in the list too because I'm sure I'll be wrong on half of my predictions.
I think Fowler, Mariota, and Ray..
Quote:Lets be even WRONG-ER.
Winston
Mariota
Wait, QBs predictions are too easy. How about:
Fowler
Waynes
Ray
Proud to say I picked Ray with no prior knowledge of what broke today
Since I was so wrong last year:
Amari Cooper
Leonard Williams
Dante Fowler|
Vic Beasley
That should cover the Jags.
There. Now the Jags should be safe.

Watch us take Beasley and him be the bust
Quote:Still early, but looks like you were right about Dee Ford Pirk. Good call.
Thanks. I miss plenty. It's just with tweeners, they are really, really risky no matter how highly rated/touted. That's why I loathe this year's crop as a whole, as a group. A few may make it and even end up being special players, but it's difficult to tell which. It's going to have to be the right "fit."
On defense:
Gregory
Ray
Prewitt
On offense:
Peat
Mariota
Dorsett
Quote:Shane Ray
This is my guy too.
1. Fowler
2. Ray
3. Mariota

Good job with the list.
I think all of the players you mentioned have at least come to mind for me as players that have a good chance of not living up to what their draft spot/ billing will end up being.
Landon Collins, Marcus Mariota
Probably several of the top CBs, OTs... but then they aren't really getting the hype. The crop just isn't strong at the very top.
Guys who may be hampered/disappointing early due to injury:
DeVante Parker
Todd Gurley
Injuries present and past may not allow them to be who they have been. Wouldn't scare me away though at the right value.

This is
still a depressing topic.
To add a word on this class of tweeners...
IMO, every single tweener in this draft has high bust potential. "Tweener Purgatory" (to borrow a similar phrase to what some were saying about QBs last year.)
Most if not all would fail in a traditional RDE role.
Randy Gregory, I believe, has he best chance of success regardless of scheme. He's got the length to play at either RDE or rush ROLB and in a hybrid LEO role. His length means he can disrupt and get pass breakups even if he doesn't get home.
Outside of Gregory, the best pass rushers to emerge from this draft may be surprises who don't come from the top "big names."
Beasley's first step could also make him viable at RDE. Dupree could also play RDE but needs work.
IMO Harold needs to play OLB. In our scheme, he'd probably be a better OTTO. A guy you'd want to move around to have the most success.
So, I suppose Fowler has the highest "bust" potential IMO. If nothing more than being considered as a #3 pick. I'd take him, but to be used more like Harold and move him around. That role, IMO, isn't worth the #3 pick. Given the bust rate for tweeners, that would be the most risky pick we could possibly make. That's why I simply don't see us going that route over Williams/Cooper.
