Will you be mad? Not care? Happy with the player we got as long as they're good?
Personally, I'll be pretty peeved. He wouldn't even be one of the ones no one saw coming, like Wilson or Brees or Roethlisberger, or Rodgers. He would have been right there known to the world and we passed on him. Even if the player we got (Watkins or Mack) ends up being good, there's no replacing what a really good QB can do for your team, not to mention all the extra perks that comes with having Manziel. Yeah, I wouldn't be okay with it and would be disappointed that Caldwell was too scared to take him.
What extra perks does he come with? Frequent flyer miles? Cash back on all purchases?

You should be truly outraged if that happens. I'd suggest you show your disdain by following Manziel to whatever team he winds up with. That'll show them.
I won't be able to sleep. My life will be ruined.
No use getting too worked up over it. The Jags have passed up on some pretty great players in the past and we pull through as fans.. Well, most of us.
Quote:He has the strongest autograph signing hand in the draft.
But I too want the Jags to draft Manziel. Risky or not, I'm tired of 'base hits.'
Giant hands make his autograph stand taller than he does.

Right. Trading up for Gabbert and Blackmon were clearly "base hits"

I highlighted the key phrase of your OP, and you're 100% correct. The Jaguars have never been in this position. All the players we hated passing on have all been in
hindsight. "If we only knew", "if only this quarterback had been more well-known or widely considered worthy of a top 10 pick".
Vino's right, there's no hindsight here. Manziel's been the best player in college football for 2 years now. He's the most popular, statistically the best, and at this point, if there's any 'consensus' number 1 QB in the draft, he's the closest we're going to get this year.
I myself can only think to compare this year to 2011, when there was a now silly but at the time very serious rumor that Panthers were actually considering passing on Cam Newton. If they had, it'll probably still be a punchline against their franchise to this very day. In fact if any of you need a good laugh, go back and do a google search for the 2011 mock drafts that don't have Carolina taking Cam at 1,
the arguments sound hilariously or perhaps terrifyingly similar to arguments made on these boards for the Jags to pass on Manziel.
Quote:<div>Six weeks away from the 2011 NFL draft, here is a look at how the first round could shake out:
1. Carolina Panthers—Marcell Dareus, DT, Alabama. Panthers GM Marty Hurney is sure to be tempted to take the ultimate gamble by picking Auburn QB Cam Newton, but in the end he should go with the much safer choice.

Quote: Cam Newton is a definite possibility here, but ultimately, the Panthers will decide he is too risky and go with Dareus as the No. 1 overall pick.
He’s the safe pick at No. 1.

Quote:<div>1: Carolina Panthers : Cam Newton: QB, Auburn -The more I read the more I firmly believe that the Panthers will take a huge gamble and select Newton on April 28. Owner Jerry Richardson will see the controversial signal caller as a big ticket item that will bring fans into the stadium....Nonetheless, Newton’s unlimited upside is undeniable, but I think that his lack of maturity and off the field issues make him a huge bust canidate. Rumor has it that aside from Newton the Panthers like AJ Green and Patrick Peterson, so those would be my choices if they pass on Newton.

food for thought.....imagine Carolina next year without Cam Newton, that could be you Jaguars
4 more days! I'm sure someone here will miss you.

I just wonder if his mom will let him stay up late on a school night???

lol. get all the jokes out now, 4 more days left FBT
And lemme just reiterate, because I'm sure after Thursday, when we get him, the excuse will be, "well JJ was just guessing anyways". So lemme just say again FBT, I'm not guessing, or hoping, or even thinking this based upon information gathered.
I'm telling you, unequivocally, we are getting Manziel at 3. I didn't 'overhear this', I was told this.
Why do you think I made that bet with you? Think about it. I hope it's obvious by now that I like these forums, I like the people on these forums, there's a lot of great stuff here. Why bet my entire future here like this when I don't even have to....unless I've been convinced somethings gonna happen. You may think I'm digging myself a hole, but come Friday, we'll see whose digging themselves out of theirs.
Thankfully, we'll both still be around to see.
(BTW, no hard feelings FBT, I like you, and i like friendly wagers amongst fans like this too)

lol, unless you're over 40, we're probably around the same age if not me a bit older than you.
I do fear the night of the draft tho is going to be a very dark time for you Jagley, lol.

Good stuff. This is really going to be a fun bon voyage.
If the Jags pass on Johnny, it will just be like the last 10 years. There is always someone you get or pass that turns out great. Just deal with it and move on IMO.

I mean I like Johnny too, but i don't ever believe when someone starts this stuff of them being told what the team is going to do. You're acting like that one guy who was in love with Bridgewater and kept saying we would pick him at 3 no matter what. Don't even remember his name. I'm sure you guys that are on here more know who I'm talking about. Does he even post here still?
Wiseman? Vander....whatever?

Cam is and was a better passer, and he's also not a midget.

Yeah I think it was Wiseman.

Not really. And if 6' is midget status I sure wish I were a midget and not a dwarf.
