What about him reminds you of Gabbert?

Don't you know?

Any QB you don't like "sounds/looks/is Gabbert"

A late rising/ hyped QB that wows you on the chalkboard and in interviews, and with measurables, but wows you not at all on tape.
Saw this yesterday. I take anything I read the week before the draft with a grain of salt.

I do get a kick out of Alfie Crow: Draft Expert.

He tries so hard to be different.

He prefers Anthony Barr to Khalil Mack.

He prefers Mike Evans to Sammy Watkins.

He's such a hipster.

Well in those 2 instances he might actually be right.

Barr could very easily wind up a better pass rusher in the NFL than Mack.

And Evans could very easily wind up a more impactful WR in the pro's than Watkins.

I liked Gabbert before I hated him.
Possibly the Jags want to build him up so someone above them will pass on Clowney or someone below them will want to trade up for him?

He wows me on tape.

Or Texans get him and we take Teddy

What.......exactly wows you on tape about Bortles?

I don't think this is so far fetched either.

While I think Mack is significantly better than Barr and have thought so for the entire process, most people had Barr over Mack until 3 or 4 months ago.

I previously had Evans over Watkins as well.  I think they are neck and neck right now.  The only reason I have Watkins higher right now is because he showed me the ability to play NFL receiver over the offseason, which was my primary concern on him.  But I could lean either way really...

You do recall that he beat Bridgewater in their head to head matchup, right?

I won't say that he's the most impressive guy I've ever seen play, but his stats are significantly better than Gabbert's were.

He's not really late rising though.  Most didn't expect Bortles to come out this year.  Bortles looks WAY better on tape than Gabbert ever did.  And he has a WAY better completion percentage than Gabbert did.

The only reason Mack is ranked above Barr is because Mack can be used in coverage.

Barr is going to be the better pass rusher of the 2. But a pass rusher is pretty much all Barr will be.

Hipster peer pressure - "come on man, no one else is doing it".

His ability to move in the pocket and improvise when the pocket breaks down.  His accuracy - especially his 2012 season.  His ability to fit into any offense with a low bust factor.  His versatility running a diverse offense that they ran at UCF with elements of pro style and spread.  His command of an offense pre snap that most college quarterbacks aren't asked to do.
But can he play? It's football, not a beauty pageant.

Except Bortles led his team to a bowl, had way better stats, and wasn't outdone by Chase freakin' Daniels.  I'm not saying Bortles is an amazing prospect, but he's better than Gabbert was, and has more than just measurables.
