Quote:Fifty sacks in 2012. Fifty sacks in 2013.
What could possibly be a higher need than loading up the offensive line unit with the best talent available?
Carrying five to six quarterbacks on your active roster is ignoring the problem is punting the problem?
BTW, what about this Bodine guy from NC? Terrific strength. Center prospect as well?
How many sacks did our defense get? I'd think rushing the QB is pretty important too. Oh yeah, and there's the fact that we have Chad Henne at Quarterback, so I'd say that's our highest need. Maybe if someone better was under center we would not have given up as many sacks...
the only scenario i can see us taking a tackle is we trade down with atlanta to 6 and caldwell doesn't believe in any qbs
texans go clowney
rams go robinson/matthews
atlanta go mack after trading with us for say a 2nd and 5th this year
cleveland go watkins
oakland go evans
this leaves us with matthews and the three qbs which we will say for argument caldwell has a second round grade on
i feel like there is a slight gap in class between matthews and say the next group of players ie ebron lewan gilbert
personally I feel like we'd try and trade down again for someone wanting a tackle but I think it may be tough
that is the only way I can see us taking matthews or robinson

Henne and Gabbert combined for more passing yardage than Seattle's Russell Wilson last year.

You have the Jaguars trading down. For what? A much less talented player, a second round pick to be spent on a unknown player from parts unknown, and, (oh boy) a fourth fifth round pick (we already have three).

And about half the touchdowns and twice the interceptions

And yet his rating was over 100. How was Henne's and Gabbert's QB rating? When you have one of the best defenses in the league, your QB isn't going to throw a ton of yards.
Quote:I read one or two places about Matthews that his best position might be ......Center. Caldwell clearly thinks the Center position is very important after the offer made to Alex Mack. If we trade down to 6 (Atlanta trades up for K-Mack), I would not hate the idea of Matthews at #6 if Watkins and Evans were both gone some how. I don't know if Caldwell would be brave enough to draft Matthews at #6 with a plan for him to start at Center and start Pasztor at RT. Probably not, but would be a good O-line on paper, especially if a projected starting OG was also chosen early.
LT Joeckel - LG Beadles - C Matthews - RG Bitonio - RT Pasztor
1. HOU - DE J. Clowney
2. STL - WR S. Watkins
3. ATL - OLB K. Mack (from JAC for pick #37)
4. CLE - QB J. Manziel
5. OAK - WR M. Evans
6. JAC - OT J. Matthews
Round 2
37. WR A. Robinson
39. OG J. Bitonio
Round 3 - BAQB
I've heard that as well. Completely logical scenario, though I don't see the need to look at G so high. There should be a lot of first round talent to choose from at 39 at several positions.

don't worry I'll put your toys back in the pram for you
It was a hypothetical scenario which demonstrates the only way I can see us taking Matthews or Robinson in this draft
and why wouldn't you want those extra picks if you can still get your guy with them
Matthews at 6 with extra picks into the bargain.. Wouldn't that be your dream?
