....and their 2nd rounder, and their 3rd rounder and their first rounder next year....
Yeah, going to need more than just Romo + the pick.  Romo is 34 years old.

3rd overall pick + Henne

for their 1st rounder + Romo + 3rd + 4th
Sweet. Give me two First Rounders, a 2nd Rounder, 3rd Round,  and you got yourselves a deal.

Want no part of Romo.

That would be acceptable.
Swap the 3rd pick for the 16th, plus a 2nd round, 3rd round, and next year's 1st......make it so!!

I'd swap 1st for an additional 2 and 3, plus a future 1.

The idea is that he would upgrade Henne while we develop a starter in waiting

already said it in post 2 B)
You guys are crazy if you think you can get that much.  More likely a 2nd and 3rd.

The team with the #3 pick is basically getting their pick of the quarterbacks this year. a 2nd and 3rd is the bare minimum.

Pick #3 --> Pick #12 netted a 2nd rounder last year.  Pick #3 --> Pick #16 might net an extra 3rd rounder.  Maybe a little more if the team is desperate... Certainly not an extra 1st rounder.
You get the value of the trade in draft picks. If they want to throw a player in the mix, that's gravy. The picks are the currency.

You're getting their 1st and 2nd round picks this year, plus their first rounder next year to do this deal.

It depends on who's on the board. Using past examples is silly. The value of picks depend entirely on who's on the board at that slot.

No one's giving up a first rounder next year for anything other than a quarterback. If it happens, that'll be the Jags' asking price and it's perfectly reasonable assuming the guy you're trading up for is who you believe is the guy.

I disagree, especially considering who is on the other end of the deal. If they want the 3rd pick, it has to benefit the Jags to move out of it. Using value boards as a guide, Dallas has to give up their first next year to make this even remotely appealing. That doesn't quite cover the gap, so we should be asking for their 2nd rounder this year.

They want a QB. They'll have to pay.

They want a quarterback. That boosts the value, especially since we are a team in need of one.
The value boards vaguely apply anymore.  Recent history is the best guide.  There were two early trades that laid out the value in last year's draft.  You may get a little more because its Jerry Jones and he seems desperate, but let's not get delusional and think we're getting an RG3 deal.

They're still a good reference point, especially when you're talking about a quarterback, and the team on the other end is the Cowboys.
