Quote:The NFL hates Jacksonville and will do anything to get this team relocated to another city. I think the NFL feels that if they screw this city enough they can make us apathetic and in their minds right a wrong by putting a team here in the first place and relocate it in a sexier market. We're one of the most disrespected teams in all of sports and what's the sad besides going to the games we can't do a damn thing about it.

I've actually brought this theory up several times over the past year.

I believe that Goodell indeed wants the Jags to fail in Jacksonville so he can get his desired result of the Jaguars moving to one of his prefered locations, i.e. L.A. or London....and then after that happens, you watch how quickly the Jaguars will then be "allowed" to succeed. Watch and wait.
Tom Coughlin is coming back to Jacksonville on November 30.  Who would have thought he would have won two Super Bowl Championships with the G-Men since he left town! :pinch:

First regular season visit by the New York Giants at EverBank Field since November 2006 - 8 years!  Smile   B)  :woot:   ^_^

Quote:I feel like the Jaguars should have a home game after their bye.  Just seems odd to make them travel to London, have a bye week, then travel to Indianapolis.  Might just be me though.

No, I agree with you.
October is going to be fun. There's a couple home games in December that could be huge, too.

And I don't mind opening up away at all; we won't have to play those guys in the cold. Plus, if the team looks good, it will help tickets sales going into week 3.
Gil Brandt thinks the Jags will be much improved and suprise people! I hope hes right!

Complaint department: The Jaguars have just one home game in the season’s first month and play four of their first six games on the road for the second consecutive season. It’s not as bad as it was in 2013, when they played at Oakland and Seattle in Weeks 2-3, but it still robs the team of gaining a little momentum from an attendance boost because of the new scoreboards and amenities at EverBank Field. There’s also a stretch in which the Jaguars don’t play a game at EverBank for nearly a month because of the annual Florida-Georgia game, the game against Dallas in London, a bye week and the Great Jacksonville Agricultural Fair.
As of now, the Eagles are favored by 11 over the Jaguars...

Far too early to tell. Right now looking at both rosters based on last season the Eagles should win but the Jags have a lot of draft picks and a lot of second year players.
Not the easiest start to the season with 3 road games in September, but I think you can go 2-2 or even 3-1 in October.

Quote:It's interesting, we have the first and fourth preseason games and the first two regular season games are on the road.   Since almost none of the starters ever play in the fourth preseason game, that means that between August 7 and September 21, almost nothing of any meaning will take place at the stadium.

At least this will give them plenty of time to take care of any remaining issues with the stadium renovation..

I don't know the exact state of stadium renovation, but is possible, this is one of the reasons you start the season with two games on the road?

Quote:ESPN just said the Jags have the 4th easiest schedule (strength of schedule) in the league with the Raiders having the toughest..

SOS is based on last season records which doesn't mean a lot in new season. I expect Texans, Skins, Steelers and Giants all to have a better season (from the teams you play in 2014).

Quote:From what I Understand The Jags asked to have either the Wash game or the Philly game to be right before the London game. So we could leave Sunday night out of philly or wash and fly straight to London. I see that did not happen. I hope when the NFL ask the Jags to play more London Games after our 4 games are done, Shad tells them to FO.

He's not going to do that, because right now, he makes a lot more money off that one London game than off any one Jaguar game.   The only way he tells them to FO is if the games start selling out.   Not just lifting the blackouts, but really selling out.

We're start selling out when they put a winning product on the field just like other good franchises.
Man,, it's almost not going to feel like a true Jags Football Season.

I mean, they don't get to play two of their main, yearly rivals.

No Bills? No Raiders?

They do play the Browns. So, at least they still get 1 of the 3 yearly rivals.

It just doesn't seem like a Jags season without

Bills

Browns

Raiders
Looks like another 4-12 season.

I love this. No one knows anything at all about the the teams we play right now. Its April. The draft hasn't even happened people.

Not having a lot of home games to start the year does stink but who know what will happen from now until then.

RG3 gets hurt in practice? Foles has sophmore slump? We draft Clowney and our defense is top 5? There is no reason to panic now. Get stoked for the season!

When you have been bad for as long as the Jags have, the schedule makers aren't going to do you any favors.  When the team improves, so will the schedule.

Until then, it is what it is.    Whining or making up bizarre conspiracy theories won't change anything.

Can't wait for the season to start!

For whatever reason on IE11, I can't use the forum quotation features.  Anyway this is an excellent summary of the problem with this schedule.  The team needs to just win to get more "reputation" and an improved schedule.  I honestly feel that the league is going to favor/protect the top drawing teams because they need to drive ratings for the upcoming TV Contracts.

Keep in mind we still have Chad at QB and an unproven offensive interior.  We are going to see sacks, hurries and knock downs again this season.  I'm not hopeful for a "winning" season but I do think we will have an improving season.

Quote:You want to discuss the schedule like an adult, or literally WHINE about the NFL hating the Jags bla bla bla.  Just shut up, you sound pathetic.

There's been years when we had 3 primetime games and were TERRIBLE.

After the years we've had, this is what you're gonna get.

And personally, I don't think 1 o'clock games are any worse.  Primetime games can be tiresome and annoying as well, being a working man and actually going to all the games.

I'll take my 1 o'clock games and the early tailgating and I'm happy that I'll be able to support my Jags.

You, on the other hand, need to grow up.

I'm with you.  I prefer the 1:00 games.  The prime time tilts are fun on occasion, but they tend to be  more of a burden for those of us who actually have jobs.  I'm not burning my PTO to recover from a late night at EverBank.

I don't think there's any grand conspiracy here where the schedule is being used to force the franchise to move.  I think they just have little regard for the smallest market in the league.  It's nothing more than that.  In order to get further consideration from the league in the future, the team has to be relevant.  That hasn't been the case for several years now.  Hopefully our fortunes are about to change, but until they do, expect crappy schedules.

We know that 4 of the first 6 games of the season won't be at home.

We know that our home opener won't happen until the third week of the season.

We know that in the middle of the season, we won't see a home game at EverBank for a solid month.

There's quite a bit we do know.

I agree with you that we don't know how we'll match up against our opponents yet.  It's projected as one of the easier schedules in the league this year, but that's based on last season.  Things change.
At least we get another top 5 pick next years draft.
