Who's still on the board when they pick Evans?
And this would be a surprise pick how exactly?
No way he goes at three. For one, Watkins will probably be on the board. Two, if Watkins isn't on the board, it means that Clowney and/or Mack are. Given that all three of those players are pretty universally regarded as better than Evans, the only way I see Evans going at three is if Watkins goes top-two and someone desperate for help at WR trades up with the Jaguars.
Mike Evans is on TCU??
Someone better tell Johnny Manziel.
As for the player? Like him. But not at 3.
6 or lower? (trade down) Sign me up.

Says the man who can't keep Jadeveon Clowney and Khalil Mack straight.

In his defense, he's not very smart so it's understandable he'd get confused.

meh, yeah, I'm hoping his was only the equivalent of a "typo" as mine was....
but thanks for the stalking, since I wasn't directly talking to you in that post.
I don't see Watkins better then Evans. If you watch closely he actually giuided johnny in a bunch of his throws. Unlike the qb does for the wr normally. He catches nearly everything and he is a huge target in the red zone. Only thing watkins has on him is speed. But Rice was not fast but ended up a HOF.
And yea sorry running off of two hours of sleep. Texas AM

I agree with you that I think Evans could have a more impactful career in the NFL than Watkins. Definitely more physical and has proven to win those jump balls and one on one battles which will be imperative in the NFL. Better red zone target.
I would rather have Evans than Watkins, but id like to trade down a couple spots to get him

At 3?
That would be a huge suprise.
If you assumed Clowney and Watkins were gone, you'd think Mack, and one of the QBs, maybe even Barr or one of the tackles would be the consideration over Evans at 3.

But even assuming desperation, I couldn't see a trade up under the circumstances because this draft is said to be so deep at WR.
I see no way Evans is picked at 3.

well...that's kinda important, don't you think?

I would like to argue these points.
Evans while big is easily moved by CBs mid catch and has troubles beating the jam so i question the physical part. He has a long stride not built for beating CBs early in the route tree and with his lack of top end speed teams will not be afraid of him going over the top nor will he have a QB scrambling for 5-6 seconds every play while he finally works open against man coverage so i question the beating 1v1's part.
His route running is IMO lazy and smacks of lack of care for the craft. He does not explode out of "cuts" (if you can call his that) and severly rounds off in/out routes. He does have good hands but that wont matter when CBs are draped all over him and like i said he is easily moved for being a big WR. Some bigger WRs take the hit and appear to absorb most of it whereas when Evans is hit mid catch you'd think a train just hit him. This is actually the only known weakness for AJ Green of the bengals as he is easly moved mid catch by hits as well. DIfference is AJ has the explosion, route running and spooky catching ability to make that not matter.
IMO Evans is just like another WR everyone on the board was drooling over who i flamed on this very site and rightfully so.....Brian Quick. Extremely raw technique wise , lacks top end athletic ability , easily "bodied" by CBs mid catch , bad route running. Same player and Evans will likely join Quick as being horribly overdrafted.
With the 3rd overall pick in teh 2014 draft the Jacksonville Jaguars select Kansas State Wildcat Long Snapper Marcus Heit!!!
Special teams is set for the next ten years, as long as Dave selects a backup punter and kicker with the 2nd and 3rd round selections.

Ew
This is why Jacksonville needs a guy like Evans.
I don't think you're going to see a surprise pick here. This front office isn't going to reach for a player, especially at 3. It'll either be a name god expect, or they'll be trading down.
