Quote:I'd have him about 9.
3 & 9 are not really that close in terms of draft value.
If the Jags trade back add selections and get Mack at pick 6, you can't complain about that, and I wouldn't, either.
But if the Jags simply take Mack at 3 and value be darned because "they fell in love with the player" then, yes, I do have an issue with that philosophy. Mack isn't the be-all end all of the top 10 in this draft. Missing out on him isn't going to ruin anyone's draft. There are enough other great players that will also be available. Never, never throw away value in the draft. Its a road to nowhere.
Clearly they should not select a player where everybody has him valued.
What is funny is that so many on this thread are able to see exactly what you are doing.
Quote:Nobody has him at 9 but you.
Most (non Jags MB people -( who I guess have him at 1 overall)) have him about 6. I have him at 9. I've stated on several occasions that if the Jags trade down add picks and take Mack at 6 I'd not complain with that.
Retaining/ adding value in the draft is important.
Giving away value is what gets you Alualu's and Gabbert's and overall bad drafts.
Quote:I'd have him about 9.
so everybody else who covers the draft is just wrong I guess, huh? if only Caldwell had access to your board

You do realize that Mack could be taken second overall, and no one who knows what they're talking about would argue that it was a bad pick, right?

Who?
Quote:Demarcus ware came from Troy. Mack would not be a reach, as he is being projected as a top 5 pick regardless.
Scroll back a couple of pages in case you haven't slogged your way through this increasingly stinky stink-fest of a thread.
I found scouting reports / measureables of both Mack and Ware and compared the two. Might be interesting reading for you.

Kiper has him 3.
Not sure of recent rankings but last month Mayock had Mack at 1 and said he'd take him first overall.
You really have no idea what you are talking about.
Vernon gholston was a productive player out of OSU and was a colossal bust. This small school thing is minute when it comes to Mack.

Oh, I see. So if that happens and the TV guys start bringing that question up of "reach" then dismiss it, because
If NFL team drafts player at pick x, they are not to be questioned. They know more than you, lolz.
Its amazing that Alualu/ Gabbert/ Tyson Jackson/ Reggie Williams.....and on and on ever happened....from people we dare question for making those picks...

I'm afraid I'll catch TMD. I can't get sick today

3 of the guys you listed were considered "overdrafted" when the selection was made. Mack is going in the top 5 in a deep draft and nobody is going to question it.
You're missing the point, you lovable doofus. The point is that if Mack were picked at two, no one on TV would be saying "reach". They'd be congratulating the team picking Mack for adding a playmaking pass rusher on defense.

...
The lowest "popular" mock draft that I have seen - and you can take that for what it's worth - is #9 overall
from Pat Kirwan. Kirwan also has Bridgewater going #26 to Cleveland in his Mock.

Really, slappy? ....Don' think so.
I can almost guarantee if the Jags select him at 2 (after a trade up) the TV analysts would all be questioning "reach".

lol the Jags won't trade up to two. Now you're the one who's reaching.

If he goes top 3 they will.
I don't care were any MB posters, Kipers, talking heads, TMDs have him. If #3 rolls around and Caldwell takes him, I'll feel good about it. He is vastly more capable of evaluating the pick than all the other references being made.
Quote:lol the Jags won't trade up to two. Now you're the one who's reaching.
Really? I've read some posts speculating about a trade up from the Jags (to 2 overall) over the past several months. Granted me, and most others shoot those down when they appear, but the authors of those posts bring up the fact that Caldwell is close to the Rams' GM and might jump in the draft to get the player he wants. He's been around the Falcon's org that has history in operating in that philosophy.

In what world would the Jags trade up to #2 to select Mack? You just making stuff up now?
Those "trade up to #2" rumors were exclusively for Clowney or one of the QBs (when Bridgewater was considered a 1st overall pick by many)
Quote:lol the Jags won't trade up to two. Now you're the one who's reaching.
I see you're now not disputing the initial claim that if he was drafted at 2 by us that they would call it a reach.
The Jags jumping up to 2 might happen/ might not. Don't stray.
