Quote:Sometimes good people aren't in a good job fit.  Just not sure this is the best utilization of his talents.  Clearly he has had a lot of success or else he wouldn't have made it to this level.  But clearly something is lacking in his skillset in terms of being a head coach of an NFL team.

I'm sure he'll land on his feet.

I think Gus will make a tremendous 2nd coach somewhere. There's a lot of hate for him, but just looking at the reactions from Shad, Dave, Doug, and the players, everyone of these people respected him. I know one of the schtick when Doug was hired was that he was hired to replace Gus. Listening to Doug yesterday and you can clearly tell that wasn't the case. Doug really *did* want to work with Gus, and the firing of Gus was like a gut punch to him.

Gus should step back from coaching to look at a few things:

1. Build a better staff. The inexperienced lot he started out here doomed him.

2. Find a way how he can be a better disciplinarian while still maintaining a positive attitude.

I think just by doing those two things, he can be greatly improved the 2nd time around.
Exuded class. A truly inspiring press conference for anyone with compassion. He needed to go, but being a great human being will forever be a greater accomplishment than being a good coach/whatever other job. He is a father and in terms of setting an example for the most important people he has to teach- in my opinion he succeeded.

Didn't get it done on the field, and that sucks.

But whoever raised him did a heck of a job.

As much as I can't stand the bald idiot, I gotta agree with this..

Still glad he's gone..
Definitely saw a lot of good things our there today Vs the Texans; things we can build on moving into the future.

Quote:Should of kept him one more year. Just needed a new offensive coord, New rbs, new o linemen, and new QB

LOL ..... Gus essentially hired 3 or 4 offensive coordinators in the past 4 years.

He simply needs to stick with Ted Talks
I wish I could lose my job, get paid millions and millions of dollars and people still feel bad for me.

That would be AWESOME.

Quote:It absolutely is sad for him. Nobody likes getting fired. Have you ever lost a job and been happy about it?
Absolutely! I've been in a situation before that I was ill equipped to deal with and was floundering terribly until the day I got 'relieved' and was put in a job that I was far better suited to. Just so you know, I'm referring to a job I had in the military, so it wasn't as if I had a choice about turning it down. But yes indeed, I was very happy to get 'fired' from that job and put where I could excel instead of fail.

And now that I've showed up things are gonna get even stupider!

It's an excellent opportunity for growth - personally and professionally.  Particularly if the company and or role has become a stale situation.

Sometimes it's hard to get perspective staring at the same four walls years on end.

Whether you realize it or not, sometimes you just need to get out of your element for your own good.
Dang...I somehow missed this thread.  Can we please get it going again?
