I see Ryan Tannehil and that is not necessarily bad as long as he continues to make progress.

Competition not a concern with Bortles.  As far as game footage, I disagree with you but it is subjective.
Wouldnt  take him until the 2nd and if its him or Carr at #39 im taking Carr with no looking back.

Dudes a total hype job based on his size and nothing else. Meh arm strength despite his size and needs the most seasoning of the Big 4 in terms of the mental aspect of QB'ing. Has pocket issues despite hs size and strong frame appearing to shrink when defenders close in (Maybe not gabbert bad but as another poster said its there).

THrows a ton of short passes and screens (i myself have posted the numbers) and from watching his Draftbreakdown reels he throws a VERY screen pass taking crazy amounts of time to reach his WRs and even then they often have to make great adjustments just to catch a SCREEN pass.

Either isnt able to , doesnt want to or isnt given the option to adjust plays with consistency and at times leads to sacks on blitzes.
He does leave you wanting more.  You see the size.  You see him occasionally make bigtime throws.  You see him shake off would be sacks.  You see him make plays when his team needs him.  He seems to win ballgames.  But you watch him and he just doenst jump off the screen.  He just seems to plod along, does his job, and wins the game.

He doesnt have that plus arm and he hasnt really had any plays that have been his signature moment.  Nothing like Manziel has had.  He does leave you wanting more.

Not that impressed. I go to a lot of UCF games and I am surprised some consider him a top 10 pick.

Now William Stanbeck is a stud and will be one of the top running backs in 2016.

As a UCF grad, I know I'm biased toward Bortles, but I think he could be a really good NFL QB.  He's not a guy that is going to pick you apart like P Manning or Brady, but he has a knack for always playing his best when you need it ala Roehtlisburger or E Manning.  I don't get a chance to watch many other college QBs (I go to UCF games or watch them every week), so I can't say if all of these QBs make those types of plays.  Bortles routinely makes 3 and 10 throw after 3 and 10 throw.  He does move around the pocket a lot, but makes EXCELLENT throws on the run.  I'd say he's more accurate with Clowney chasing him to his left than standing in a perfect pocket.  I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing, but it is what it is.

I know everyone has seen his tape, but watch it one more time and see the down, distance, and situation of the throws.  Hitting a 30 yard seem with a DE steamrolling you on 3rd and 10 with 45 seconds to go in a tied game is a bit harder than a 60 yard pass, down the sideline from a perfect pocket on 1st down (he misses these from time to time).

Sick :yucky:
remind me a lot of kaepernick in terms of the way he plays but not as strong of an arm. Probably better accuracy. I think he can be a solid starter but its guys like bortles that worry me about being down points in the NFL. I don't see him as someone who can bring a team back when they're down a couple scores. I see him more as capable when everything else is going right. I have Bridgewater, manziel, and carr ahead of him.

i see.

And he didn't play worse against better teams. I think he is a solid player. But not the kind you take in the top five.
The question is: Will Blake Bortles end up being the best QB in this upcoming draft? Or will it be someone else.

He has many of the tools, but unfortunately that doesn't always mean he will be successful in the NFL.

What is his football IQ?? I've always believed that the smarter a QB is about football, the better chance he has at becoming a successful NFL QB.

Just look at all the top QB's in the NFL right now. They all have a high football IQ. Of course you have to have some talent to go with it, but QB's with lower football IQ's end up being just another average or so QB.

Just my opinion.

Do those top Quarterbacks have high football IQ's or just a lot of football knowledge? Most of the top QB's in the League - I'm discussing Brady, P. Manning, Rodgers, and Brees specifically - have been around for a while. While they may not have come into the League with a high IQ, they have seen enough to build quite the knowledge base of information.

To me, I don't care if the guy coming in understands exactly how to beat every team in the SEC or AAC or even the entire NCAA. I want to know that he is willing to learn how to beat the NFL.
If we do take a QB at 3 I think this will be the guy

I'm not very big on him. Size and weight is not a QB make or break, this has been proven time in and time out yet we still bring up the argument.

I'd be more comfortable with a lot of other QB's.

He was capable of doing this very thing multiple times this year with a questionable supporting cast. I don't see why he wouldn't be able to do it at the next level.

Agree.  Not my first, second, or even third choice.  But, he's the only QB I'd understand at that pick.
hmm.

Quote:His size alone is the reason he took UCF to a one loss season and won a Bowl game ?
