Quote:Some have suggested he may not have elite arm strength (which unlike Brees could be improved through better footwork,) though he's extremely accurate throwing on the run. His deep ball accuracy is also very good.
If that's all your ignorance can see, just admit it up front.
I don't see Bortles as a Brees comp, sorry.
Where's that article that was comparing the charting of the top QBs?
One thing that really jumps out to me about those stats is that despite Bridgewater being more mechanically sound than Bortles, in terms of passing ability, he's still only slightly ahead of him. If the staff can rework Bortles mechanics and get them to muscle memory then wow, he could really be a beast when combined with his size and athleticism that Teddy doesn't have. His arm is also probably as strong if not stronger than Bridgewater's right now even with his mechanics holding it back. Of those stats, Bortles is the most steady, not really lacking in any one area, and he has the most room to improve overall as well. Gets me excited.

If you were a fan of Teddy and year or so from now you're going to absolutely love the remade Bortles.
I wouldn't say I was a fan of him like some in the fanbase were (i.e. basically preaching he was the second coming) but I did think he was the most polished passer in the draft.

I'm not worrying about that.

. Your not?
Quote:He was capable of doing this very thing multiple times this year with a questionable supporting cast. I don't see why he wouldn't be able to do it at the next level.
thats what didnt even come to my mind when i was thinking that. i completely forgot that the best offensive weapon bortles had was storm johnson. with the potential firepower he will have here. i have high hopes that bortles will be able to put up points.
It was fun going back and reading through all of the posts about BB's in this thread.
I will re-ask the very same question today, nearly 4 months later:
Thoughts on Blake Bortles?

One thing is for sure, the dude is certainly cool under pressure.
There were 2-3 people that had some pretty good takes... And a lot that should probably learn to be a lot less adamant in their opinions haha.
Quote:Rather have Manziel then pick up Connor Shaw later.
Browns stole my idea!!

OR you work for the Browns?!?!
I don't think that you will find a single Jag's fan that doesn't like the Blake Bortles pick right now and that says a lot, a whole lot.
How many times can you say that when talking about the Jags?

Haha, as much as that would suck, it pays more than the US Army...
