Quote:I agree, to both. And also as you said about Shorts being injury prone.
yep. Also makes me think we could draft another running back and lean a little heavier on a QB to develop.

don't see how we deal shorts in wr rich draft or the purpose...
taylor, brown, and doss combined dont even have half the receptions that shorts does. again, with terrible qb play and terrible OL AND as you label him injury prone.....he still outclasses them by a mile.

Well the person floating the idea of dealing him hasn't liked Shorts from day 1.
It's good to have him back for depth and year two in Fisch's schemes. Other than that, I personally don't expect much out of him. I wouldn't mind Watkins at #3 or a trade back which results in Evans at around #7 or #10 either. The more and more I think about the WR position on this team, the more and more I realize we're virtually back to square one again. You have a #2/#3 at best trying to play the role of #1. And the only capable #1 you have is not even allowed to set foot yet around the practice facility.

whether or not he out classes them is irrelevant if he can't stay on the field. Taylor and Brown have played much less but do have potential.
lol Mike Brown is not replacing anyone.  He's a decent WR that could be a solid #3.

A Third for Cecil Shorts.

A THIRD.

In a draft class that is as deep as we may have ever seen at WR, and the expectation is that someone will offer a friggin' Third for Cecil Shorts.

Good to know that the machine is still working I guess.
You don't trade a good player for a mid round draft pick.  While Shorts may not be a #1 he is a good #2.  I think his play would excel if he has a receiver on the opposite side who can play. I think of it as Thunder and Lighting. McCardell was a good wr but never the same without Jimmy Smith.

Would not be opposed to re signing him if hes playing well, and knowing Caldwell, it will be a fair contract.

If some other young receiver steps up and is playing very well, whether its a draft pick or someone already on the roster...i would see what i could get for him.

Hour 1.

I love draft day around here.
I'd be completely fine with trading Shorts, it's just that I have doubts of anyone offering anything worthwhile for him, considering his injury history.
