Blue chip linemen don't score touchdowns.

Neither do QBs on their back.
Seattle, Giants, Packers, Saints, Ravens, Steelers didn't have 2 top 5 draft pick OT's

No, they have franchise QBs.  We don't, and there isn't one in this draft, so you build your line to protect the guy you've got back there.

The period where the Jaguars had their greatest success as a franchise had them running Tony Boselli and Leon Searcy out there as their bookend tackles.  There's nothing wrong with investing heavily in your line, especially if your division rival has basically gone and shown they're building a scary defensive front.
Going into their draft, Brees, Flacco, Wilson weren't considered absolute franchise qbs.

What if he falls down backwards into the endzone?

But they were actually good in college. Logan Thomas not so much.

Then he scores a safety....for the other team.
Gotta get Manziel.

I don't think the Texans will draft Clowney.  I think they are smoke screening and hoping to trade down.  If they actually want Bortles, he's a reach at #1 since most people don't think he's even ready for the NFL level.  Hopefully the Texans don't grab Manziel but they might.

No I mean the other end zone. He backpedals, falls on back...

Lol I guess it could happen in theory.

There's not one guy huh.. You sure about that? Not one franchise QB in the entire draft?

Every situation is unique.  If the draft scenario where Clowney winds up with Houston turns out to be true, teams have to be prepared for this tandem rush of Clowney and Watts.  Putting a shrimp who likes to run around back there isn't the best option.  You build your line to deal with the rush.

There's not one guy in the draft that's a clear cut franchise QB.  No.  There are a lot of guys in this draft who would be solid selections, and maybe they could develop into franchise level QBs.  But, there's a good reason you're seeing QBs sliding in the draft right now.  It's starting to look more like 2013 than 1983 where there's more hype than depth.

If he's falling backwards into the end zone, we're giving up 2 points and kicking the ball away.

What you're saying is akin to wanting a keyboard in lieu of a functional CPU because "CPUs don't type words".
Either Bortles or Bridgewater
I'm sold. Matthews 1st, some second tier qb in the 2nd round.  Another year towards the bottom in sack rankings.

Did you even read the original post in this thread, or the topic at the very least?

If Houston drafts Clowney, you're going to see him twice a year with Henne as the starting QB.  The OP asks if this would change the value placed on Manziel, as in, would we draft a micro QB with happy feet because we'd be facing a potent pass rush twice a year vs. Houston.  I simply said I'd expect to see the focus change to make sure we protect our QB against said pass rush.

Manziel isn't going to create less sacks with his ad lib play.  Just because a mobile QB can run, it doesn't mean less sacks.  We heard that same point of view a lot during the Garrard era.  In fact, his mobility was noted by the coach and GM as the reason he was given the starting job in 2007.  The end result is he was sacked more often than Leftwich, literally a human statue.

If Houston does grab Clowney, you can't waste the 3rd pick on Manziel and hope it works out.

Care to elaborate sir?
I don't think Clowney being gone has any effect on us drafting a QB at 3.  If there is a QB that grades out really well and he's available, we are likely taking him regardless of Clowney.
