First of all nobody knows which of these players gonna end up being great so thats meaningless, Rodgers fell and is great, Brady was a 6 rounder and hes great, look at Russel Wilson and Drew Brees. Come on now dont come with that if he's great as you think he is stuff, with all those bust QBs going higher then guys who turn out good that fall in the draft .

That's debatable.  Remember when he was the undisputed first pick in the draft, and people were opining the fact that we lost out on him when we started winning games?  Yeah, now there's speculation he slides to the middle of the first round or further, and what's worse?  Other QBs are mocked to go ahead of him.  That tells me he's probably NOT the best QB in the draft when the dust settles.  In that case, yes, it's okay to think giving up multiple picks to go get a guy like Bridgewater is a bad move.

And he may very well turn out to be great despite the current slide.  I just don't see trading up to find out.

I would love a combination of the Walter draft in the other thread when we trade down and get Evans and this draft when we use the extra picks to move back up and get Bridgewater. We would still have 10 total picks but now two are in the first and we only lost a third.

Yea people need to watch Path to the Draft on NFL network, they have guys how worked in the NFL for years and been in those war rooms, those guys havent flinched much on their boards. They need to stop reading these blog mock drafts and taking ESPN hype as gospel. At the end of the day these guys are getting over analyzed and thats how you end up with Blaine Gabbert .

Yea I understand not wanting to trade up to have many draft picks, but to say a guy is not as good because he fell is foolish, like these GM's never make mistakes and pass on better players.

You and others keep saying this. Please give me an example of a "deep" draft. What does that even mean?

 

If you look at the past decade maybe even two, please show me a draft where there was an abundance of talent in each round that turned into anything?

I'm not saying he's not good.  I'm saying he's not as good as the hype that surrounded him early on.  He's falling for a reason.  It's not just the pro day.  I think there are legitimate concerns there that existed all along, but the media was determined to build him up as they're known to do. 

 

GMs make mistakes all the time.  Hopefully they don't cost you multiple draft picks in the process.

Ever consider that Caldwell might not agree with other teams on Bridgewater?


The Best QB in the draft doesn't always go first.  Alex Smith over Aaron Rodgers.  Vince Young (and Matt Leinart) went over Jay Cutler.  Micahel Vick went before Drew Brees.

That is exactly why you stay put and not trade away picks to move up for anybody.


You never know if an Aaron Rodgers will fall to you.
