Quote:Nobody trades for running backs anyway. There is zero market.Marshawn Lynch is the last one I can think of and that was 4 years ago.
He was only in his 4th season and went for a 4th and a conditional pick.

Quote:So Gerhart is set to recieve $4 million, from the jags. But Mojo signed a contract for $1.2 million in Oakland, hmm we couldnt pay that?..Lets hope Caldwell is making a good decision, cuz i think it would have been better and cheaper to keep Mojo..Ijs ..

Quote:Good point. And he was just starting his second year and that trade has been a disaster. Another reason why teams shouldn't trade for running backs.
Quote:So the Steelers should not have traded for Bettis, the Rams should not have traded for Marshall Faulk, and the Jets should not have traded for Curtis Martin?
There have been productive trades for players at every positions, and there have been bad trades for players at every position.
The Richardson trade was a bad one.

Quote:Martin was a free agent from what I remember. The other two trades were 15-20 years ago. The league has changed.I stand corrected on Martin. He was a restricted FA, and the Jets gave up a 1 and a 3 to the Patriots as compensation.
Quote:I stand corrected on Martin. He was a restricted FA, and the Jets gave up a 1 and a 3 to the Patriots as compensation. There may be a market for young RBs, but not for older ones.
The league has changed, but the dynamic is still the same.
If there is a player you think can help you more than anyone in the draft, and the price is acceptable, you pull the trigger on a deal if both parties are so inclined.
That still includes RB, but you still have to be smart about it.
You still have to evaluate the player properly, make sure he fits your schemes, etc.
Quote:There may be a market for young RBs, but not for older ones.Agreed, but under that rationale, the Colts deal for Richardson made sense.
No one is going to take over a contract and give anything close to a third for a RB in his 7th season.
Quote:Posting comments on Caldwell making a bad decision when no one knows the facts of the issue is pure speculation and is hardly worth commenting on.Maybe you should read the post again.. I believe i was optimistic and said lets hope hes making a good decision.
Quote:Hmmmm ill take 1.2 mill Mojo ova 4 mill Gerhart all day everyday..Ijs.. and playing behind a bad o-line isnt worn down..Did you see him play like garbage last year?
