Most likely....you get another Shorts......but Watkins has the tools to be very special....someone you HAVE to game plan against. If we add Blackmon to the mix.....then we create headaches for the opposing defensive coordinators

No....I'm not anti-quarterback at all.....I like the top 3 QBs.....especially Manziel.....feel he's worth the risk.......I'm just not seeing them as a value at #3......that's all.
Ooooops....meant to quote Leopold.....my bad....lol
Quote:If you find a franchise QB out side the top 40 picks in this day and age you pretty much got lucky. Just saying the 32 starting QBs were not 1st round picks means nothing, how many of them are Franchise QBs? How many are stop gap? How many are just starting because the teams have no other choice?
I would ask the same questions about the 19 that are former 1st round picks?

Same for QB.
It's not Jags must land a franchise QB or bust 2014.
It's been said time and again some execs/scouts don't believe there are any franchise QBs in this draft, and even the top candidates carry second round grades.
Selecting one in the first round isn't going to make a second round QB a first round QB talent. Choose from what's available only when the grade meets the value of the pick, and keep looking. The search doesn't end in 2014, not by a long shot.
I would put Watkins over Julio Jones as a prospect
He will definitely be a good WR, but we need a few BIG WR with great hands for the red zone. That is so important for this team. Would rather use a later pick on Brandon Coleman from Rutgers, preferably a 3rd, but don't know if he will last that long.

Agree. I watched Jones at Bama and he was an inconsistent player. Watkins was dominant. He's not a tall receiver but he is still 6'1 and has great speed. He is a future star.
My only real hesitation with Watkins is that Clemson is throws short a fair amount and likes WRs who can run after the catch. But he cant control the offense he is in. That and I wish he had the elite size.
I'm intrigued by his teammate Bryant later in the draft. If that guy is sitting there in the 5th round, I think he could be a steal. He would have been better suited in an offense that throws down the field more often.
Our offense would be filthy with Sammy and Cecil out wide, Blackmon and Ace in the slots, and Denard coming out the backfield. Too bad its gonna be Henne throwing to them.
If Blackmon plays, he is more suited for the outside than anybody...
He is just a slot guy now?
I would assume if Blackmon came back, him and Watkins would start and then Sammy or Blackmon would slide into the inside when Shorts entered the game.
