There were a few interesting notes I saw on Twitter this morning.

The NFL is not signed for any venue yet for the draft in 2014. Speculation that it could be moved out of NYC.

Also Goodell said its not out of the question that the draft could be moved to 4 days instead of the current 3. My guess on set up would be Round 1 on day 1, Round 2 on day 2, Rounds 3-4 on day 3 and Round 5-7 on day 4.

The league is milking this for all it is worth, so nothing would shock me.

I would think team staff are hating life having two additional weeks of grind it out evaluation, hopefully the GM's/owners provide feedback to the league office.  No one's board is changing over the next two weeks, no reason to not hold it earlier.

I've heard at least one team gave their entire staff one week off the week of Easter to compensate and keep them fresh.
To me, it was more boring under the old format.

After our first pick, I'd walk a way for a couple hours to work on projects and peek back in from time to time.

The shorter days make for more easily digestible segments, and more to talk about around the water cooler on Friday.

LA?

Dare we say... London?

Not looking forward to the Jets fans booing whoever they pick.
Quote:I'm pretty sure your boredom won't play into their decision making process next year, especially after they get the ratings numbers for the draft.
Which have been lower than the pro bowl have been. Not saying much.

They're clearly acceptable enough to have 2 networks going wall to wall with the draft.  Someone is making money here.

Isn't the 2014 draft happening in 2 weeks in NYC?  Sure that's not 2015?  They'll host it in NYC.  It's the epicenter of the media universe.

The league will look for any possible way to generate as much income from the draft as they possibly can.  You'll probably see commercial breaks all over the place, and Goodell will be wearing a sponsor provided suit with a big Geico logo or something ridiculous on it.

Probably 3 now with FS1 and FS2 now available
At least having it in May cuts down on the post draft over analyzation and boredom.

A very good point !
No never, I watch every pick every round, not just jaguars picks like some people here, I care about seeing where every player goes and what ever team gets and the trades all that is great

Stick to soccer

No question there, just pointing out that the numbers are far from what most would think they'd be.

It's still a production made for cable.  You can't really compare it to what's happening on broadcast networks, or even larger cable networks.  You compare it to other broadcasts on the same networks. I'm sure the draft gives the sports networks a nice bump from their usual broadcast numbers.  If it didn't, they wouldn't be covering it in such a comprehensive manner.

They're trying to create a spectacle that they can also cash in on.  I'm sure the advertising dollars are pretty significant.

I think you left out a key revenue possibility, so I added it in there for you.

I watch just about every pick too.

I don't really understand the coverage saturation argument. If you're getting tired of draft coverage, just watch/read less?
How could the continuous talk about clowney, mack, watkins, and manziel bore you?   I wish the postpone the draft for another few weeks so we can continue to post what we've been posting since mid-October :woot:
