Quote:To be fair, Sanchez is sporting a .229 BABIP right now that is unsustainable, which is a big reason his WHIP is so phenomenal right now. Also, his HR/FB% is 0. Those are two important numbers and are likely to revert back to his mean (.298 BABIP and 7.8 HR/FB%) and raise his hits per inning.

Last year, Scherzer game up 152 hits in 214 innings.

Sanchez gave up 156 hits in 182 innings.

Scherzer has given up 0.758 hits per inning the past two seasons combined.

Sanchez has given up .801 hits per inning the past two seasons combined.

I do agree that Sanchez is criminally underrated. He would be the #1 pitcher on a lot of teams. I just don't think he is better than the 2013 AL Cy Young winner.

Thanks for the statistical breakdown.

Along the lines what you mentioned,  chances are Anibal Sanchez won't keep up his current stellar pace and Max Scherzer will exceed his current numbers from the first 2 months + of the season.    A case can be made for either pitcher ( we can respective disagree on which is the best option ) but one thing I certainly agree with you on is both are better options at this time than Justin Verlander.    Unless Verlander can make adjustments along the way and come close to the pitcher he was a couple of seasons ago,   the Tigers are going to regret giving Verlander a record setting contract for a pitcher.  To the point that Verlander's contract is going to make it much more difficult to retain Scherzer.
Quote:Yo Marlin fan.....whats your non homer take on Ozuna?

He's playing way over his head, but he's a plus talent that will probably man his position for years to come. I think his power has surprised everyone, already with 11 HR's with only 3 last year.
Quote:I hate to interrupt this discussion. But I really, really hate the Red Sox.

As do I.
This is how it should have looked.

Raise The Jolly Roger!

Nice win last night for the Pirates in the first game of a big series with Milwaukee, 15-5 good guys.

Really got all over a good pitcher like Loshe. Won six of last eight now.

6 of 8??......welp I guess this pushes back Polanco into 2018 for the Pirates brass....

Just call the kid up already!!!!

How long they going to keep throwing that poor excuse for a closer out there?

I'm sure you'll have some argument as to why Nathan is really great this year, and I'm wrong....haha
Quote:Love that guy, but I don't think he's the best DH they could have. It'll be exciting to see him get back in the lineup though.
Deacon, Reimold coming off DL tomorrow, reporting to Baltimore tomorrow.

Was against the Nathan signing from day one. Overrated and old.

<checks to see if hell froze over>....
Chamberlain has actually pitched decent this year, any chance he overtakes Nathan? Or are they committed to him because of the contract?

It's hard to tell. Ausmus seems pretty loyal to Nathan, but how much worse could Joba or AlAl be??
Big papi!

So much for that. The 9th inning for the Tigers is a curse.
In addition to another meltdown by the Tigers bullpen in the 9th inning,  yet another game that the Tigers don't get enough run support for Anibal Sanchez.

About time my Sox win.

You guys fleeced us (again) on that trade. Turner hasn't amounted to anything and he's certaintly not in the future rotation plans.

yep, I'll have to edit that to include "until today"....
