Quote:It's really a waste of time to dissect player heights and weights.  It means so little.

As long as they are not a midget or fat, they will be fine if they are actually good.
Let me put it like this Darren Sproles is 5'6" and 190lbs.

Carey is 5" 10" and played well in college but was only 196 lbs. I am not saying it will factor into how well he plays, but it will factor into how many hits he will be able to take. He will be taking way more hits than a QB will.

Also, the fact that he is adding weight shows it is a valid concern, but my issue with that is he risk loosing some of the playmaking ability he had due to the added weight. And I am not just talking about a 3-5lbs here. From what I have heard he wants to get up to a playing weight of 210lbs - 215lbs. That is 15 - 20lbs difference than what he played at in college......just saying

Agreed.

Just as more perspective - MoJo when drafted at 5' 8", 203.

Quote:Be patient my fellow jag, be patient. Don't be writing off Toby Gerhart just yet as an impact player. Don't forget, he played his ENTIRE contract behind a beast known as Adrian Peterson. Toby's talents couldn't of been showcased playing behind AP. But the 1800+ yards he had his Heisman Runner-up year was NOT a fluke. The defenses just didn't roll over for him you know. This kid is a runner. Unlike some RB's in the league, if he has to go "thru you" he can do that too. His quickness (or lack of as you say) is surpisngly deceptive. Just wait on the criticisms until they are warranted instead of speculated on.
Im not going to write him off just yet im hoping he does pan out..
Only RB I really like in this class is Sankey. Would be thrilled to grab him in the fourth when all the overrated chaff is picked ahead of him.

If we pas on a back this draft, I'd shoot for Kenyan Drake net year if he declares. Absolutely Shady McCoy-ish ability with little wear on the tires.

Quote:I see you haven't seen Gerhart play. Cool.
i know what he did in college.. seen highlights that wasnt to pleasant in the nfl.
I think this may be the first and only time I have seen someone say 'franchise RB'.  Fix the OL and the QB position and who we have at RB really won't matter.

Where'd you get 5'8" from?

Never seen Mojo listed that tall.

4' 8"?.....
Quote:Ok, put it this way....

I feel that Bridgewater has a lot of qualities that will help make him successful as a pro QB, such as his accuracy, command of the position, football IQ, and so on....

Does "Teddy Bridgewater" also sound like a football type star name as well to me? Yep, sure does.

Is the "name" going to supercede anything else in the evaluation process to make me select or avoid him in the draft? No way. But as I subconsciously and consciously go over all the players I've watched become stars in this league, "Teddy Bridgewater" just does have that feel of a successful player to it.

Its like an intangible.
Brady Quinn is a cool football name Wallbash
I have to laugh at the idea of a "franchise running back". Have you really not learned anything? This isn't the 70's.

How can you not like Tre Mason?

nah, it never was

Just wondering how you could write 5'8" when i have never seen him listed that tall. typo? Small but silly stretch of the truth to make a point?

He never has been listed that tall.  Really hitting the booze hard this weekend, it would seem.

Below-average vision and tends to run into his linemen's behinds too much. It's why even as a 'Bama fan, I'm not too high Yeldon because he does the same thing and think that Drake will be the far better NFL back of the two.

While he was also listed at 5' 7" by some outlets at the time, he was also listed at 5' 8", 203 by a few around that time as well. It might have been pre-combine when heights/ weights are sometimes rounded higher.

No, and there probably won't be one at this stage of the game, some 8 years later....

But I am not making it up. I distinctly remember the 5' 8" 203, because of the comparisons to Barry Sanders by some at the time.

If you don't believe me, then don't. I really don't care.
Quote:Didn't say he wasn't any good.

Something always seems to happen to players with goofy names like that that keep them from reaching their potential. He'll probably have bunch of injuries or something.

I predict 100% that he will not be an NFL star. Something will derail it. No matter how talented he is.

It's better to just keep your mouth closed, when adults are talking.
At the combine, he was list at 5 ft 6¾.....
