Trade down from 3 to 6 with Atlanta, as they will be desperate to get Clown at that pick, Atlanta gives us their 2015 1st rounder, plus their 3rd rounder in the 2014 draft in return.
Trade down from 6 to 10 with Detroit, as they will be desperate to get Sammy Watkins at that pick. Detroit gives Jax its 2nd rounder in 2014 to move up, plus a 2015 4th rounder.
Jax would then currently sit with:
pick 10 (jags have their choice of Barr/ Gilbert/ Evans there. or possibly a further trade down. They might even be able to swindle a 3rd or 4th rounder from Tennessee at that point to swap picks as the Titans would likely be desperate for Gilbert to replace the CB they lost in FA.
Then the Jags could hold up the Rams for ransom as the Rams would want Evans....purging a 2nd rounder from the Rams to swap spots in the round....
finally:
Jags at pick 12 - take one of Barr/ DT Donald/ TE Ebron/ DE Ford
and still have:
3 high 2nd rounders
3 high 3rd rounders
2 fourth rounders
3 fifth rounders
2 sixth rounders
1 seventh rounder
extra 2015 1st rounder (which could be packaged to move up for Jameis)
extra 2015 4th rounder

TMD, why in the hell would Atlanta give up a 2015 1st and 2014 3rd just to go from Mack to Clowney?
Oh yeah, setting yourself up with asinine impossible situations so that you can be disappointed when they don't happen, just like Byrd and Mack with FA.

Will never happen
But you will get mad when it doesn't

Atlanta trades up and gives the Jags their entire 2014 draft for Clowney. If Caldwell doesn't pull it off then the FO is completely inept.

i can see atlanta trading up for clowney or mack
they rebuilt their lines in free agency but need pass rushers
sitting at 3 means they can get one out of robinson mack and clowney guaranteed and more likely a choice between two of those 3
me i see it as a 2nd and 4th this year if they traded with us but the more i look at it the more i think the depth of the the draft means it's more likely people trade with the rams or stay put in the top 10
the closer we get to the draft the more i think a trade is probably wishful thinking
added why would detroit trade up for watkins when they need a cornor or pass rusher and one of gilbert evans and watkins will fall to them at 10

Why do people keep thinking Atlanta is going to trade up to get Clowney? Just because he said he would want to play there?
Atlanta has a lot of holes on their roster and they can't afford to keep trading up for players.

Nope because its a very solid fit for them
Clowney has the physical tools to line up in a 3-4 or 4-3
Atlanta are starved for pass rushers and Clowney would really help a young talented secondary
the main issue with him is rawness which will erode with time and whether he has the motivation
If a player wants to play for you motivation isn't an issue
Clooney to Atlanta makes too much sense but they would have to trade to get him
Which is why people mock it

That is a very nice theory TMD but what most people fail to realize is that St. Louis Rams will be the team making the trade unless they take Watkins @ #2.
The Rams could easily fall to #6 and still get there OT out of Matthews/Robinson/Lewan.
The only way Clowney falls to #3 is if the Texans go QB/Mack and the Rams go Watkins.....the #2 pick will not be an OT.

They could sit at 6 and likely have a choice between Jake Matthews and Khalil Mack. They have their QB in place but they have a pedestrian offensive line and a mediocre defense. Why give away so many picks?

He's a very good fit for Atlanta.

Atlanta still has their window open despite the debacle last year. Clowney would instantly elevate their D and get them back to the top.

Why would Atlanta give us next year's first to move up three spots?

They won't.

Best Case scenario would be #6 and #37
Most likely scenario would probably be #6 and their 3rd and 5th rounders.

the offense is star studded at the skill positions except tight end but julio jones and roddy white fit and healthy along with steven jackson and jacquizz rodgers and harry douglas which should give matt ryan enough weapons to work with
the offensive line
michael johnson got a 1 year prove it deal so will probably start at right tackle this year after being on ir
ryan schraeder will compete with him for the job and provide depth so that's right tackle sorted
hawley has been resigned at centre and played well and asamoah was signed in fa at guard
that's your right tackle right guard and centre sorted
justin blalock played well enough last year so will keep his job at left guard
that's 4 of your 5
left tackle is a need but the class is pretty deep and lamar homes did quite a good job last year
defensive problems came from lack of pressure up front
they have resigned their pass rushers from last year and retooled their interior d line but they haven't snapped up a real elite pass rusher
in my opinion this would help their defense more than a left tackle would help their offense especially as matt ryan still put up some numbers but the falcons d really struggled in sacks and interceptions last year.
so if I was the falcons I would want to make sure i got an elite pass rusher to be my difference maker especially as i think there is a higher chance of a good tackle falling to the 2nd round than a top end pass rusher

I don't think anybody would argue that don't have two great receivers. I wouldn't expect much from Steven Jackson. He turns 31 this year, was injured part of last year and average 3.5 per carry. Rodgers is a decent situational player but has not shown he can carry a heavier workload. So need to probably add a back in the draft.
A bit of a stretch to say Lamar Holmes did a good job. They have a huge hole at left tackle right now. They need to protect their greatest asset right now. And if they stay at 6, they could have a Jake Matthews staring at them in the face.
On defense, what do they have? Osi is 32 and could still be cut. They re-signed guys from what was a bad defense. They have nothing at linebacker beyond Weatherspoon. They need help at safety.
Maybe I will be proven wrong, I just don't see them trading away picks with so many holes.
