2014 is about improvement. It's not about making the playoffs -- it's just about getting faster, hope you hit on a few free agents, and be competitive.

Henne has a 2 year contract to get us through transition. The playoffs are always a goal but in 2014 it's more about transition whereas 2015 will be the realistic playoff goal.[/quote

It's always about getting to the playoffs. I hate the mediocrity on this board.

OK - you've won the role of TMD, Jr. Congratulations.

You do realize that your tough guy desires don't change objective reality, right?

Let's let Caldwell do his job while you fantasize about being a GM in an alternate universe.

From 2 to 4 to 8!
To infinity and BEYOND!

Signing any player who is better than the player he is replacing necessarily does make a team better.
Oh man...

I totally had this HUGE angry rant about Chad Henne and how he's not he future or a franchise quarterback.  Eventhough no one reasonable has ever suggested he was supposed to be a franchise quarterback....And i had all these stats where i picked the stats i liked and totally ignored the ones that i didn't.....

but then i forgot who Chad Henne was, so i couldnt type it all....

The guys this team signed are definitely better players than we had before.
Quote:The teal goggles are blinding them. Like I've said with Henne at QB we won't win more than 6 games. But a lot of people on here are ok with that because it's an improvement.

Good to see you're still as delusional as you've always been. Big Grin

TBD.

My post was just stating we are still in a transitional period.  If the playoffs were a requirement this year, we would have gone after elite free agents that have a quick shelf life.  Dave & Gus are transitioning this team with 2015+ in mind.  It was not a dig at the front office but a realistic statement of the "gradual" direction that they are going.  Anyone thinking we're playoff bound this year is only kidding themselves and I will gladly bet them any amount of money with a written agreement that the amount is kept in escrow so the consequences are viable.
Quote:If we're looking to be playoff bound in 2015, we need to have that QB in place within 2014 so that he gets the much needed experience. Again Henne isn't the answer as the original poster has mentioned...

NH3...

I agree with you to the extent that Bridgewater would help get us there but I'm also thinking Jameis or Mariota could provided immediate help in 2015 if we happen to get them at the top of the draft.
I'm not a fan of Henne. Even though the games were meaningless, he literally threw away the Buffalo and Tennessee games.

8-8 is an overachievement with him. I'd much rather see a rookie come in.

If Henne is a bad as 90% of the fans think he is, myself included, then pretty much any QB they select in the top half of the draft should be able to beat him out in camp.

His salary isnt so high that you have to start him, and if the rookie who beat him out is stinking it up the first few games the team has a guy they trust to manage their game plan. Simple as that. Smile

Agree I'll do I don't see drafting one at 3. I'd whether see a qb in 2nd or 3rd rd then see Henne behind center again he sucks.
Quote:The more and more i read some of you guys thread im starting to believe a lot of you guys are accepting Henne as the qb for next season. Im here to remind you how important it is that we get a qb 1sr round. Lets not forget how in 3 consecutives weeks at the end of last season Henne couldnt make the play to win the game, lets not forget how great our defense played at times only to be let down by a costly turnover from Henne in an critical time of many footbal games. My point is we have to be mindful that the most important position that needs to changed is QB!! Or we will repeat the last two years cycle.

Uh....

Where to start.....

Why are you telling us this?   Does it make any difference what we think of Henne?

What is it you want us to do exactly?

If they draft a QB at 3 and he can't beat out Henne in camp/preseason, we probably drafted the wrong QB.
Quote:I think it goes both ways.  I also think some people have a negative view of Henne without giving him a shot....

You say the above as if Henne is some rookie or 2nd year player, lol.

Henne is what he is, a mediocre at best QB.

Don't take this personally, but then riddle me this: Why do most people around here all want Bridgewater/Bortles? It's more of the same
I'm no Henne supporter and I hope he's the back-up to a rookie before the 2014 season ends.....but....

If we get J Blackmon back, Gerhart has a good year and at least one rookie makes a real impact - he could move the offense enough to win 7 games. Maybe eight in a perfect storm of positive turnover ratio from the defense.

He went 8-8 with the 2010 'phins.

I agree, but I was saying even if they take a guy in Rd 2-4 I still think the rookie will have a good chance of beating him for the starting job.

If the rookie isn't ready, Henne is serviceable. Won't win you games, but isn't a disaster most of the time.

Most people around here don't see it the same way, as they see at least one of those above QB as becoming a better pro than you do.

It's a kaleidoscope, everyone sees something different. and QB is the hardest position to project. but you know that.
