1. Sammy Watkins - WR (Dynamic playmaker at a position of need and an elite level talent from this prospect pool)

2. Travis Swanson - C (Arkansas was a run first type team that used mostly zone blocking. Should fit very well in our scheme)

3. Christian Jones - LB (I wanted to take a QB here but Jones is just to versatile at his position as he as able to play weak, strong, and middle LB positions at a high level. I see him as the potential starting Weak or Strong side LB in our defense with strong coverage skills)

4. Brett Smith or Aaron Murray - QB (I personally believe Smith wont last past the 3rd round, but if he should fall to the 4th I think we would and should pounce on him. If not I think Murray is a solid pick up as a QB who could develop into our starter IMO)

4. Arthur Lynch - TE (Reliable hands and above average blocker esp in run game. I see him competing at the TE spot and possibly emerging as a great zed zone threat.)

5. Tre Boston - FS (With good size, coverage ability, and hard hitting style, he offers competition for starting FS job)

5. Walt Aikens - CB (Press coverage corner that adds depth)

5. De'Anthony Thomas - RB (Explosive special teams player that could also see time at RB and WR)

6. Matt Hazel - WR (Depth, with potential to develop into a solid #2)

6. Chris Burnette - OG (ZBS guard that will compete for starting job and at very least add depth to O-line)

7. Fou Fonoti - OT (ZBS tackle who adds depth)

I like
I'm liking Watkins a little more everyday.
No thanks.

Didn't draft any pass rushers.(Even Though Christian Jones has capabilities there)

Didn't draft a DT to replace Miller.

Drafted a receiver way too high.

Not a fan of Murray.

I appreciate this breakdown though...

Given the depth that we currently have signed for D-line with some youth sprinkled in, I didn't feel it was necessary to draft at DT or Pass Rusher.

I understand if not a fan of Murray, but I definitely don't think we would be taking a WR way to high for what Watkins brings to the table. IMO he is a young Andre Johnson.

I like it.  The first 5 guys are all players I have slotted to us at one time or another when jotting down Jag mocks.   I would have no complaints with this draft.  Like you said, the DL is pretty set now after FA, and that allows Caldwell some latitude to concentrate on other needs, especially on offense.

We'd probably have to sign another vet, stop-gap OG in FA though.

I think we might sign a stop-gap OG in FA as well. And depending on who else we sign my opinion may change. I really am starting to love Jones though. He can play all three of the LB positions and probably be a 2nd LEO on passing downs if necessary.

Of course as I mentioned, I am waiting to see if we sign a Center in FA and not just a stop-gap one. Because if we do I definitely see us taking a QB within first 2 rounds.

There are some good players on that list - but I'd bet real money that the Jags draft a QB and a pass rusher before round four.

Greece I enjoy your mocks but I have concerns with this one...I think you might be drafting them a little high, thats just my opinion and I could be way off so take that with a grain of salt. I really like some of the guys you Mocked and pray that they are Jags (Watkins, Swanson, Jones and Aikens Late). I dont see those QBs going that high but again I could undervalue them myself. Id prefer something like this. (I use a mock draft simulator/game to make my picks)

Rd 1 Watkins- It would be hard to pass on Clowney if he fell. I dont see how Houston passes on Clowney and St. Louis passes on Watkins....We could take either guy and be very happy. I believe out 3rd option is Khalil Mack...If we miss on the first two I believe that Tampa Bay trades up for Mack.

Rd 2 Rashade Haegeman- Too much talent in this draft, I think a DT falls that has a first rd grade. I believe that the 2nd rd is the most important rd in this draft for the Jaguars. If we can get additional picks for this round we can add some serious talent. Guys like Dee Ford, Ryan Shazier, Jace Amero, etc. could fall because this class is so deep.

Rd 3 Telvin Smith OLB- Strong player, is everywhere on the field. Would be a fan favorite.

Rd 4 Travis Swanson/ Weston Richburg..I think the centers slide because this draft is so deep, they have higher grades but may fall..Im probably wrong though.

Rd 4  Aj McCarron QB- . I prefer Jimmy G. but will be ok with AJ or Zach M. or Aaron M. we need one here and possibly a guy like Fales/Thomas too.

Rd 5 Jon Halapio OG- Gets no love because he played for a bad team last year. Kid is a warrior in the trenches, plays hurt and does it well.

Rd 5 Crocket Gilmore- Athletic TE that can come here and fit right into the schemes. reminds me of Owen daniels a little bit.

Rd 5 Walt Aiken- See Greecemonkeys post.

Rd 6 Seantrel henderson- Has always Underperformed but has the size and talent to be a top tackle, I think he could outperform Paztor

Rd 6 David Fales/Logan Thomas- as mentioned earlier we need another qb. both of these guys have talent and intrigue to them. would like a 2nd qb but just dont know when to draft them.

Rd 7 De Anthony Thomas- Too much speed and athleticism to not take. Sure we drafted Ace to return punts and KO but he seemed to come along as a WR towards the end of the year. Lets give Ace more time at Wr and take some sick speed in the draft...should remind us of the Witherspoon days.

Again this is my opinion based on the mock draft simulators and other mocks Ive seen out there. We have the flexibility to go so many ways here. Should be a fun weekend in May for us.

At this point I'm thinking it's either Mack, Watkins or a Qb. But pro days are still approaching and with the experience signed on the d line, they could afford to draft a clowney and not worry about him not working because I don't think red and Clemons are guys to disappoint
No way go center at the top of the 2nd round.  There are too many centers that have similar value.  Wait until later in the 4th or 5th.

Agreed if you want OL go Yankey/Sua'Filo/Jackson...The centers with value will still be there in thee 4th/5th there really isn't an impact center in this draft.
Greece I enjoyed your mock draft, but I think Travis Swanson can be had in the 3rd if not the 4th and if he is not there then Stork will be there in the 4th for sure. if I may, i would like to add my 7 round mock after the FA wave we just had. I would like to see a trade so mine will have a twist. Atlanta #6 and #37 for #3.

1- #6 Watkins WR

2-#37 Jace Amaro TE

2-#39 David Yankey OG

3- Telvin Smith LB

4- Cristian Jones LB

4-Travis Swanson / Stork C

5- Tre Boston FS - As Greece described

5- David Fales QB

5- Storm Johnson RB  - Depth. Third down back.

6- Vinnie Sunseri S - Hurt senior year lots of potential. Depth. Special teams

6- Brett Smith QB

7- Taylor Hart DE/DT - Three year starter for the Ducks. Never missed a game. 6'6 280lbs Depth.

I like the idea of the trade down but the only way I see St. Louis holding on to #2 is to pick Watkins...if not Atlanta will trade down with St. Louis if the Rams only want a OT.
Guys, if we get to round 5 without having taken a QB, there will be a riot at the stadium.

I enjoyed your mock as well. I hope some of the guys I picked go in later rounds, but every year I make my mock drafts a lot of guys I really like go earlier than I expected. I would be very happy with your mock.

As far as yours goes I don't think Thomas will be there in the 7th, he can start immediately as PR and KR and have an impact. I see him going in rounds 5-6.

Your mock was interesting. I like it. However, I read an article in December well before Brett Smith's pro day and three draft reporters all said that most of the scouts they talked to had a 2nd day grade for him. That is rounds 2-4. I could see him sliding to 5th round, but I just can't see him later than that, but I would be very happy if we did get him there.

Also, I don't see how Watkins makes it past Oakland esp if they make a trade for Scaub or sign Vick or something like that. They will need a WR. I do like the idea of a trade down with ATL, and at six I would take Mack, Evans, or Dennard.
Quote:There are some good players on that list - but I'd bet real money that the Jags draft a QB and a pass rusher before round four.
+1 It's not going to happen so no worries. If Caldwell passes on all the QBs for the second year in a row then Henne better have found super powers, or I will join the riot mob.

I'd be shocked if we don't take a QB in the first two picks. I'd bet good money that we take QB with our first pick even if that's with a trade down.
My issue with taking a qb in rd 1 is that he will be expected to start. Henne was signed to be our starter without having to worry about a guy looking over his shoulder. I dont think we would have signed Henne if we had any intentions of taking a guy at 3...That being said If we traded back from 3 or traded back up into the first rd for Carr then maybe it makes a little more sense to get one...i guess....

I just dont see it at 3...pick 39, sure. Id be happy with Garrapolo there..or Teddy if Miracles happened jk...

Depends who is there at each pick but I wouldn't be opposed to this.

Only thing is I hope we get a starting franchise QB and I don't see one being there in the 4th round. Seems kind of a waste of a pick to be honest. I like the idea of grabbing one there if we have a starter, but not when we are looking for a starter.
