We signed Clemons, Hood, Beadles, Gerhart, Watson, Bryant, so far.  What's the cap number looking like right now?  I would expect we still have a lot of money left, since Beadles was the only 'overpaid' guy.

edit - resigned Henne and Blackmon too.

But we released Babin.
Don't know the number but we have plenty of cap space left.

And traded gabbert
Probably enough to sign Peyton Manning twice
I believe we should still be in that 40-42 range.

obviously an over exageration, but you get my point.  the best is yet to come.
....enough to sign Mack to an offer sheet and not blink

I remember alfie said we had around 50-52 M yesterday, so I would guess still upwards of 45M.

That was before Watson's number, Clemons 4M or so per, and Hood.So i'd say right around 42 or so. I'm sure Hood got 2-3M per.

Quote:Once all of those are factored in, I'd guess the Jaguars sit right under $40 million in cap room for 2014, leaving them with plenty of room to make more signings if they choose. I'd guess the team still shops for another interior offensive lineman and a wide receiver.
The figure of about 40M is before Clemons and Babin. So now its probably just over 30M. Get 1 more starting interior O-line and leave it at that.

How? After we released Babin at his 6M tag and got rid of Gabbert who I believe was close to 2M against the cap, we had just about 62M available or so. Clemons for 4M, Hood for around 2-3 (still havent heard), Watson for 2M, Beadles for 6M, Gerhart for 3.5, Babin for probably around 2-3. Should be right below 40 after Babin signing or right around there i'd imagine. That cap number was figured in after Red Bryant too I believe.
Enough so its basically impossible for us to get into cap trouble in the next 3 years.

the deals are also structured to payout most of the guaranteed money in the first year or 2, so if the older players drop off, they can be cut without any penalties and locking the Jags into big contracts

The 40 is after Clemons and hood, before babin. But he probably didn't guess hood's contract would be as big as it is. Either way we should get a starting center and roll $30 mill over to next year.

we still gotta sign the rookies also
We can still sign Kaepernick for his $18m.   Now that they got Gabbert, I'm sure they're looking to deal Kaepernick.
