Quote:WHo are you to judge?

They have remained alcohol free for over 15 years, despite you labeling them, "not very smart". People handle things differently.
That is my opinion. But I think someone who has handled their addiction for 15 years is much better equipped for that environment then Blackmon who just got busted for substance abuse and has a very recent history.
Quote:He just has to have self control. Can't expect a 24 year old with millions to dollars to be a home body due to issues that he has If the rehab had an effect on him, he should hopefully be ok. We'll see in time.

He has shown several times that he doesn't have self control.

They've been in & out of bars/ clubs that entire time. Have yet to take one sip of alcohol.

I won't pretend to know your friends situation. But seems far fetched that a person who is an alcoholic went to a bar right after he just started recovery. My point is focused on Blackmon.
Quote:Do you have proof he's doing anything wrong in that picture? Is going out and having a good time now somehow banned as part of his league punishment??

Lets just see what transpires, if anything.
Wait. YOU'RE telling someone not to jump to conclusions? That's the very definition of irony there folks.
Whatever actions Blackmon takes hurt him more than any of us.  It's not like he's skipping town with a bag of money.  He's not even getting paid.  He can go to all the clubs and bars he wants.  His life.  Our only concern is if he can get on the field and stay there.

That's the concern. Him not being on the field. He put himself in bad situations multiple times and we have seen the results.
Quote:....Once the Jags "cut" Blackmon they'd be giving away a future HOF player for free. Uh-uh....the smart way to handle this is - he's either going to play here or nowhere else.

That about sums it up and is exactly the way Dave C says they're handling it.

The Jags are pulling for him and here for him if he get's clean and passes NFL squeaky test.

....if not...well I hear WinnDixie is hiring.

Fixed it for ya

A future hall of famer?  He's not even in the class of a Calvin Johnson, AJ Greene.  More of a Anquan Boldin.
If he was a 24 year old entry level guy at a bank dealing with addiction, no biggie. But he's not. He's got millions on the line and is in the public spotlight. And is fresh off of a few mess ups and supposedly just out of rehab. If it were you, would you risk all that money to have some fun being a 24 year old? No! Just goes to show you that his actions are moronic and will continue to happen until he's out of the league. What a waste.

Anyone interested in buying a #14 authentic?
Here's the substance abuse policy:

I just glance through it.  But it seems to say that he can't reapply for reinstatement until 60 days before a full year after the violation.

Not sure if it matters in his case but I think Goodell let Aldon Smith off of the hook for some very serious stuff last year in exchange for going through rehab treatment. Josh Gordon also reduced some suspension time by agreeing to testing at least once a week I believe also. If he takes this serious (which he pretty much has to due to the very smart contract we had him sign to protect ourselves) I expect him to be back soon.

I admit I don't know the details on this and I don't believe that the specific violation was ever confirmed. If this was weed which I'm guessing it was, it will be legal here in FL for medicinal purposes later this year. The NFL does not seem to be as worried about weed as much as they used to be either. See comments form the Bud Bowl, I mean 2014 Super Bowl. Both teams were from states where weed is leagl for recreational use. Like it or not it is only a matter of time before that is the case in every state. Private institutions like the NFL will be able to have their own policies but I don't think they are going to care about it given some of Roger Goodell's comments.

The thing about his fiction, is that it's not even good fiction.  Especially for someone with so much practice.
Quote:Yeah, these people are crazy for thinking a guy with a very long history already who was willing to throw millions of dollars away shouldn't be at a club when he is facing a year long suspension if he messes up again and ruining his entire NFL career. Just absurd.

Groundhog Day

I mean seriously, have fans already forgotten the three gut wrenching sucker punches we have went through with him in 2 frakking years. Not to mention he was suspended twice last year. Now he is back at a club. Are we not seeing a pattern???

So, I'm guessing you expect him to be spending his time at the library or something???

He could merely go to the local bowling alley or local restaurant and face the same temptations to drink. Methinks you are just letting the stereotype of "da klub" affect your judging.

Uh, no.

RJ Soward never got to the point where he was even a proven capable starter.

Blackmon on the field has proven to be an impact player capable of monster numbers.
