Big athletic guy that a Qb coach would love to mold. Could he be that hidden gem this year?

Colin K was actually good in college. 

I mean, yeah, it's possible... he's just so inconsistent. Terribly, terribly inconsistent. If we draft a QB at 3, I'd love to take him as a backup later.

I would compare him more to EJ Manuel based on his college performance and the probability of a team reaching for him based on his potential.

I highly doubt it...because for a large portion of his college career he was just bad

Kaepernick wasn't a hidden gem. He was an early second round pick, who some viewed as a potential first rounder. Thomas is a third day project, who some people think would be best served moving to tight end.

Mike Mayock called him a wild card. From NFL.com:

NFL Network analyst Steve Mariucci definitely is intrigued by Thomas' potential: "He would be a fun project to coach." Mariucci said he could see Thomas going in the middle rounds.

I call any good draft prospect who played for Nevada a hidden gem.

This. When you are worse EJ Manuel you deserve to be picked in the 4th or later. Some team will reach in the 3rd though IMO.

He'll be drafted in the later rounds to be converted to play TE. SF moved up in the draft to take Kap to play QB. I wouldn't think so.

Wasn't Manuel a first rounder?

Logan Thomas does not have the same arm strength of CK.  Not even close.

Being a Hokie fan I am a little Bias but I would have to point out that he didn't have a really good crew around him, which led to his dropped production. He will probably need some time to develop but he really seems to have the mechanics and toughness to be a QB at the next level. I hope he can drop to us in the 5th and sit behind whoever we have starting next year. But he really does need the time to learn defenses better and to improve on his decision making.

Dropping to us in the fifth would be easy. We have the fourth pick in that round. But if he is not worth a second or third round pick, he is not a good quarterback in my book.

The answer is no. He is no good!

I want him as the only real potential franchise developmental QB in this draft, w/ the option to convert to TE if he isn't showing signs of development at QB fairly quickly. However, there are a lot of people that think he will be gone on day 2 so the Jags can't really afford that. If he is there on day 3 I would be happy with him yes.

That's unfair to Manuel. Manuel had a much better comp %, YPA, TD/INT ratio, etc.
