Quote:Why would you want to trade down when you have a chance to pick Clowney?
Because maybe Dave Caldwell and Gus Bradley are not sold on Jadeveon Clowney and his potential lack of work ethic and willingness to compete everyday to get better, that's why they would do it.
If they feel that is a true concern then by all means trade down.

Gus Bradley sounds like a guy who would love to have Clowney.

Quote:That means nothing if an elite player like Clowney is available and the picks offered are not very high. I would not trade out of the top 10 without a Julio Jones type deal if I can pick Clowney or Teddy.I don't know if anybody picked up on the report that St. Louis has been poking around Rock Hill or not?
They did the same thing supposedly to establish trade value for Manziel and Bridgewater.
The one constant here is the Bridgewater guy. That can easily mean he knows that Houston is already negotiating with someone other than Bridgewater.
So if, St. Louis is now in Rock Hill, and we are still seeing Teddy spam, who does that leave Houston with? Bortles or Manizel?

Your whole post makes absolutely no sense.

1. If he's not convinced that Clowney will give it all, all the time, once he is given a $20m contract, or
2. If he receives a trade offer with compelling value (ie. multiple good picks) for a team lacking talent across the roster.

As a team with many needs, if we could get an extra third to slide down three spots in a very deep draft, would that be enough? What if it isn't Atlanta? What if it's Buffalo at 9 or the Giants at 12? We may be able to get a lot more in return.

The best trade for us would include getting Atlanta's second because they pick before we do in Round 2.

I don't think Atlanta would give up a second.

No less than a 3rd to move from 3rd to 6th.
And if we really like our 3rd pick, we should really stay there unless the Falcons offer a 2nd rounder (if they just fall in love with someone).
A 4th is just not worth much at all.

Edit: Well no surprise that word (that could be slang for breast) is removed, and gay is not. NWO right here on the message board.

Khan, Bradley, and the Jaguars fans don't give a dam about Caldwells relationships. Nobody, absolutely nobody should get a discount for our draft picks. I think this draft is good at the very top... If there's guys like Teddy or Clowney available at 3... we better get one of them.
And if we don't and move back to 6th, then we BETTER have an extra 2nd rounder.
This draft at the top is littered with players that could have gone #1 overall last year. Teddy, Bortles, Clowney, some people think Manziel... we can't just trade down, someone needs to overpay to move up.

Pretty sure if the price to go from 3 to 2 is a 3rd or 4th the price to go from 6 to 3 would be a 2nd...or maybe a 3rd and 4th.

I would just hope they are second and third round picks, not more third day picks.

Well he obviously has a good relationship with the Falcons, so I guess that would affect what they give us.

I'm not a fan of trading back for mid round picks... (unless you're dealing with mid round picks to begin with)
If you're picking in the top 5, you should stay there, unless you move back to like the teens/20s... In that case you get their 1st this year and probably another 1st and 2nd. That's the only time it makes sense for me.
But if you're at 3 and someone wants that spot who is at 6.... there's a reason they want to move up. If they really really need to move up, then by all means, we'll take your 2nd rounder off your hands. Nothing less than that.

Like I said before, if we are going to trade down within the top 10 we must get a second rounder so we can have a pick before #39. Otherwise, we risk missing out on one of the top five players for peanuts.
