Quote:"Mike did some good things. But he did some good things as a rookie," Smith said. "To say right now that Mike is the answer and he's our quarterback of the future and we're going to build around him and give him a 20-year contract right now, you're not there. ...You have a plan. But if you ask me do I think we can win games with Mike Glennon? I'm going to say, "yeah, we can win games with Mike Glennon.' If you ask me would you like to upgrade the position? I'm not running around the question. That's a yes, too. If you ask me, would you like a veteran? Yeah. Really, that's the case. It all has to go together. You have to look at what's available at other positions, too."
This is extremely open and candid of Lovie Smith as it is believed he has the final say over all roster moves.
I found this on NFL.com:
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000...-no-7-pick
Quote:While Lovie Smith still praised Glennon's strong arm and hard work, the coach said Thursday that if a franchise signal-caller fell to the Bucs at No. 7 in May's draft, they would pounce.
<p style="font-family:arial, verdana, helvetica;color:rgb(34,34,33);">"I know enough about that draft to know, yeah, there's someone that would be worthy of the seventh pick because everything is on the board right now," Smith told the Tampa Bay Times at the NFL Scouting Combine. "Whenever you have a chance to get a franchise quarterback, you have to consider that."
He did say he was looking for a veteran. The fact that he wants an upgrade doesn't have to mean he they will take a QB early if they feel they can get an upgrade in the second or third.
Or, the whole thing can be a smokescreen in order to start working some trades.

I think it is obvious the Buccaneers want to trade the pick. Lovie talked about bringing in a veteran to back up a good starter. How do you get a veteran quarterback? Trade the pick, of course.
Lovie is a Tulsa grad? Here comes Cody Green?

What are you talking about?
LMAO..Cody Green? Ohh you mean the fat, darker skin version of Blaine Gabbert?
They're not taking a QB early; they're telling the rest of the league if you want a QB and there's one there at the 7 spot they'll listen.

Unbelievably delusional.
Lovie would love to stock up on a few extra draft picks if someone is willing.

Actually Tampa Bay's general manager would do that. Lovie Smith is just talking about it.
I wonder how far they are willing to trade down.

That's what I would take from it. Mike's a good QB to continue to develop. Obviously, anyone grooming a QB on the job would prefer an established veteran as a backup. It's typically how it's done.

Hey, how come it's delusional to like Cody Green? The guy is built like a tank. He has charisma. He has elite qualities of manhood, class, and genius under pressure.
He plays great under center. He hands the ball off well, and can throw for first downs pretty good as well.
What exactly do you think an NFL quarterback is?

Well? Ok.

What's delusional is thinking we should pick Cody Green when nobody else talks about him because much better quarterbacks are available.

What you are is somebody who needs to get a brain from the wizard because I have a learning disability, but seem to learn much faster than you do.
