Not necessarily. Sometimes you have players you are so confident in, you wouldn't deal them away for anything. I remember being in a mock draft several years ago and I was representing the Jaguars. I never, ever trade up and 99% of the time I'm against it, but I was so confident in Andrew Luck, I would've given up just about anything. I ended up offering 3 first round picks as well as a 2nd and a 3rd. The guy who had Indy's pick told me "no way". I realize that I would basically be "giving up the farm", but he was the only player I ever felt that strongly about acquiring. Ever since then, I've pretty much been in favor of trading down.

The Ravens tried to trade up to 4 last year for Ramsey. So, we're talking one spot.

I'm genuinely curious when the last time a team traded up in the top 3 for something other than a QB.

Browns traded into the top 3 for Trent Richardson. Think they were #4.

Dolphins also traded into the top 3 for Dion Jordan

The Jets have two young QBs, I don't think they invest in an early draft pick.

The 9ers and Browns seem like landing spots for overdrafting QBs.... But with the Browns having 2 first round picks, if they want QB, I think they take it first and take a stud defensive player at 9 or stud RB.


I just don't see the "need" plus "talent" of said QBs drawing interest for a trade in our position.

However, if we see a rise in these defensive stars and one or the other of Allen or Garrett are at 3, we could trade down.

But then I wouldn't want to.

Sounds like the Jets are in play for a QB.

Adams over Peppers? I guess this is why McShay is a talking head and not an actual talent evaluator. I'm always amazed that this whiney, snakey little twerp with a full staff of interns and resources has a job.

Adams is better than Peppers though.

Haven't seen a convincing argument yet for Peppers being a top 10 talent in this draft.

I don't think the Jags will be drafting a safety in 2017, at least not high.

Adams is way better than Peppers as a pure Safety prospect.

The one knock on Peppers like Ramsey, is they dony create turnovers. Thats the huge difference between those 2 than guys like Reed, Polamalu, and Mathieu. Not trying to put Mathieu on Reed and Polamalu level though. 2 future first ballot HOFers

Eh, Troy was more productive and better in coverage than Peppers had shown so far. He's a far better athlete than Troy, but as an actual football player, I've been left kinda cold watching him play. The Mathieu comparison baffles me because he's never played at the level that Tyrann did on defense before the drug issues popped up.

The thing about Peppers is he isn't a very good safety prospect compared to someone like Suo Cravens who the Redskins drafted last year around #20.


He's basically another Deone Buchanan, Cardinals call him a MLB but in reality he's a weak side run and hit LB, and an average one at best. Peppers is over hyped because of the occasional run on offense and the special teams ability which is probably his best assets as a prospect.
