Quote:Problem with the people you mentioned and Luck, they watched them in the NFL and realized. How many people are still calling Gabbert & Curry good/great players? How many are saying that about Luck? Exactly.

See NYC4jags, I try to go along with the topic, but others decide to stray away...
Problem with your reply is that you missed or chose to ignore the last part. No "expert" wants to admit they were wrong on a player. Luck has played just average enough that you can't really insult his game, but honestly, he isnt one of the top QBs like the media makes him out to be. Trust me when I say I know Luck is better than any qb Jacksonville has ever drafted, but that's not saying much.
Quote:Luck has been deemed the golden boy by ESPN since his freshmen year of college. There are no "experts" when it comes to a player. Experts said Gabbert was worth a first round pick. They also labeled Aaron Curry as the best player in his draft. Right now Luck has just been average enough to not make ESPN look foolish for their praise. They will ride that wagon till the wheels fall out.

Yeah Vince Young lasted way longer than he should, even calling him a "Pro Bowler" when it was obvious he was the weak link.
Quote:A low amount of INTs = game manager? That's something I haven't heard before.

I thought that's exactly what they do. Play it safe and not throw many ints. Like Garrard in 07.

Suddenly they start throwing lots of ints when they get behind because they aren't good enough to carry the team.

Saying that I don't think Luck is a game manager as such, just fell into a very lucky situation, his career will probably look decent but not spectacular when looking back if he continues the same play. More Trent Green than Peyton Manning

Lucky situation?

Oh my. The Colts 2011 roster was COMPLETE mess. Then the 2012 roster had multiple holes & lots of unknowns.

Lucky situation would = Russell Wilson.
Quote:Media sheep routine? You mean among competing media outlets? Yeah, right.

Perhaps they actually watch the games and see that this Luck guy is pretty good. Nah, that makes too much sense. Much better to go with the conspiracy theory.

And what do competing media outlets have to do with anything? The media in general is a huge bandwagon. A few people say something then a few others agree then a few "experts" say it's "confirmed" then a guy like Gabbert becomes a top 10 pick.

I do actually watch the games and see an above average QB. Good guy, ton of potential, but what he has done has been statistically above average if not below in average in certain categories. Why is that so hard for people to understand? It's like trying to argue math.

I agree here.  Luck certainly has elite, franchise-caliber potential--but it annoys the hell outta me when everyone says he's there already.  He isn't.  He doesn't deserve to be even placed on the same level as Eli Manning yet IMO.  He has been decidedly average with an underrated roster.  He doesn't have much (if any) help, but let's not act like he's lighting the world on fire.
Quote:Um. What? None of the I ever said.

I'm in the AFC South forum. I find it hilarious every time a Jags fan claims "It's a Jaguars forum!#!#@!@!#!@".

Claiming Luck is a bust (Which you've said multiple times), is just as much a troll as it would be for me to say Luck makes Peyton look like a bum (I've never said that, never will). You understand now? I'm sure you don't.

Just checked the URL... you're in the jungle, baby... you gonna die!!!

Sorry for the double post, I'll keep it cuz it's true and a great song.

You contradicted yourself big time there...

Russell Wilson likely plays in the toughest division in the NFL and Luck plays in the weakest.

Seattle may have awesome talent but they don't have those 6 easy games the Colts had

I've said this a million times, division games are rarely 'easy' (I think you were the one that agreed with me on that, maybe it was someone else). What were the Colts supposed to do? You're supposed to wipe out inferior talent, and that's what they did vs. the division.

However, you are right they have a much tough division, but they have one of, if not the best team in the NFL, all across the board. Defense, running game, special teams. I'm convinced that the Seahawks could have won the Super Bowl with anyone at QB (I don't think they would have got to the Super Bowl with anyone, but I think they would of won it with anyone).
I'm confused CW. Your reasoning for Luck being great is "wins". Russell Wilson beats him in this department and puts up superior passing numbers with worse wideouts and Luck is superior to him?

Quote:I'm confused CW. Your reasoning for Luck being great is "wins". Russell Wilson beats him in this department and puts up superior passing numbers with worse wideouts and Luck is superior to him?

Uh, no.

Luck is great because of his wins, moments in critical situations, and his ability to do more with less talent around him. Oh and Luck 2,000 more passing yards than Wilson in his career (Wilson has the ability to rely on his running game/defense A LOT more than Luck)

The talent around Wilson compared to Luck is night and day. Not even close.

PS: I REALLY like Russell Wilson, he's just not Luck. RG3 is not even in the conversation (I had RG3 as the 4th best rookie his rookie year, and was proven right the following year).

PSS: I REALLY don't want to derail another thread talking about something that neither of us will agree on, if you want to continue this circle of talk go ahead and post it in the other thread that's 20+ pages long. Probably won't reply to anything else on this thread not regarding the Chud hire.

Fair enough.

Chud will have a job on his hands without being blessed with a talent like Newton Smile

Why do Colts fans come to Jaguars.com looking for validation?

Who does that?

I come to the Jaguars forum to talk to other fans about my favorite sport, football.

Why do Jaguars fans get their panties in a wad when an opponent fan posts on "their" message board?
Wait a minute! Football can't be your favorite sport; it's my favorite sport! Get your own!

Quote:You contradicted yourself big time there...

How's that a contradiction?  It's made out to be that he has like, high school caliber players playing around him, but he has Wayne and Hilton, who are underrated...I suppose I could've phrased it better.

Get out!  This place belongs to us!  GO AWAY!!!!!!
Look here guys, we all know that when it counts that you want Wilson. The guy has poise, and the hardware, hes the new Brady. Yeah he didn't overdo it this year, but it wasn't like his recievers were all that. Harvin is the best, and he played in 2 games total this year.

And on that note Luck is still Manning, although Luck won a playoff game faster, and threw more TD's in the playoffs than Manning did early on, but either way. Manning had a harder division his second year than the cupcake schedule that Luck had last year. Manning had to play the much tougher 13-3 Titans in the first round, whereas Luck got easy street with a home game by way of weak division. So anyway, I get to call it when in 5 years people are saying Wilson is better than Luck because he has rings and all will be well in the world.

On that note did anyone mention that the Jags are

DOOOOOOOOOOOMMMED!

Even though the Colts will go 7-9 to 9-7 in our improved division next year and miss the playoffs.
