Are you like the Bouncers that watch Roadhouse and fondle themselves while you watch???????

Quote:I record and watch Mecum auctions and just lust.I can't believe what some of those cars are fetching at auction these days. Some of them weren't even "collectible" ten years ago.
60's and 70's pick-ups are exploding in price lately. BTW - Mecum, Barrett Jackson and the like make a commision on both ends of the sale at those auctions. Greedy bastards.

That's the way all Auction dealers are. I used to work for one and there was a 10% Premium

My grandfather sported one of these babies. His also had the tire skirts. I remember just sitting in for hours, in awe of a car.

Early to mid 70s 'muscle' cars are starting to rise in value as well. It's all about scarcity. One day this might be rolling across the block.

When I was a kid the company my Pops worked for had a fleet of those for shorter business trips. My brother and I were fascinated by the whole "hatchback" concept - which wasn't really a thing yet.
Remember these?

The thing with Mecum is it seems you can get a car for a portion of what it would pull at Barrett Jackson. Though I watched 'em sell like 3 million worth of cars in like 20 minutes one day...Once I pay off the truck, I plan to buy something in Kissimmee.
Thought this was a cool story. Passenger seat never even used.

Wheeler Dealers is awesome isn't it? You can always spot an American who watches the show because they're suddenly using phrases like "top tip" and "dodgy motors".

Tom Magliozzi - one half of "car talk" on NPR passes away.
I have enjoyed the show - their humor and insight for many years.
RIP.

Since part of the title of this thread said "all things fast", I thought that I would post a couple of pictures of my boat. It's a 1999 Stroker Bass Boat with a Mercury Racing 250XS motor. The first picture is me "cruising" down the St. John's River a couple of years ago. The second is a photo of my top speed that day. I've run it faster, but don't have a picture of the gauge with the peak speed/RPM reading.

I would freak out on a boat going that fast.

Believe it or not, it's very stable and comfortable at that speed.

LOL. Here is an older photo of my Lowrance GPS showing my top speed after testing different props on the river.
