Chad Johnson (senior VP of sales) stated at the forum that the concept renderings were purely conceptual and meant to show the possibility of EverBank Field's future to a group in NYC prior to the SuperBowl.

They are just trying to get a spot on the short list of potential future locations for a SuperBowl.  (2019 and beyond)

Trying to assume the burden of finance at this point is grossly premature.

Quote:Why a dome in Florida? Awful idea. Use the heat to your advantage, or go the Seattle route and just cover the seats with a roof to help magnify the crowd noise.

The heat can be unbearable for 1 PM games.
The front office is constantly fretting about the empty seats in the east Touchdown Club and how it looks on TV.  That's due mostly to the heat of the setting sun.  I can't think of a better way to fill it up than to shade it.  The only drawback I can see to this design would be the drastic reduction in natural air flow.  The occasional breeze is the only relief we get on those sultry days.  Giant fans would be needed to keep it from getting stifling under a screen.  This is what is used it large aircraft hangars and might work under the screen. They move a tremendous amount of air.

That is such a cool concept! Hopefully some of those renovations happen soon because they're long overdue!

What renovations are "long overdue"?
Quote:Because EverBank lends itself to renovations very well. The open, laid back bowl means there's plenty of space to add whatever you want.

Exactly. That was the issue in Atlanta and why the built a new stadium. The Rams are facing similar problems with a facility the same age as Everbank Field.

I'm pretty sure fans won't be needed. More than likely they'll be a huge HVAC system set up. Were talking about millions of dollars in investment. Fans would be the ultimate cheap route.
How would Jacksonville fans feel about Everbank Field being converted to a domed facility?

I like the idea of covering the stadium and cooling it off some how.  Unfortunately, this would possibly be seen by the rest of the nation as "Jacksonville covers their stadium with the largest TARP in the world!"

On a serious note, it's not bad, except I don't see the need for the tarp like cover around the bottom.

any update on the stadium

The new scoreboards and end zone cabana areas will be done by August according to Oehser.

Looks really nice.

So are the screens split into two separate screens, showing 2 separate angles?  I hope not.

If that's the case, it's kind of like having 2 screens on both sides instead of 1 gigantic one.

Looks like one to me.

It is probably one screen they can partition digitally however they want.

The sound will bounce around more like a bowl. It will get loud if we have the fans!

Lamping discusses the topic here:

I wouldn't like it. The heat in September gives as much an advantage as the cold in December for Northern teams. Then again, I don't have to sit in it either.
It's good to be a Jaguars fan theses days!
