Quote:I don't know how long it takes them to produce a full episode of Hard Knocks but I'm assuming its not the entire training camp. What distractions occur can't be too significant unless it really interrupts the flow of practices.

For the little bit of annoyance I think the return in exposure is a good trade.

They start airing during preseason... so it doesnt take long at all

Except for the first episode, each week's episode is an update on what happened the previous week.
Not gonna happen. HBO cares about ratings and most of the country couldn't care less about Jacksonville or the Jags. HBO is not coming to Jacksonville.

They would if all other teams declined... which is possible
No one cares what team does Hard Knocks. People will watch regardless. They could do a Hard Knocks about the WNBA and people would watch (on second thought....)

One episode of Hard Knocks featuring the Jaguars, and the nation is sipping Gus Juice.

Two episodes, there's a run on the stuff.

The NFL gets ratings.  Being inside a franchise is something fans like to see.  Doesn't matter which team it is.

Add in an underdog story, likely a QB battle, A recovering alcoholic and his battle for reinstatement, if Mojo resigns, you've got a legit star in the league probably trying to fight off a new kid.

There are story-lines galore.

There are story-lines galore.

Not to mention the probable drafting and expected starting of a rookie QB.  A pro bowl defensive captain line backer who was carved from a slab of marble with a chin line made by the football gods themselves.

Second year head coach who has been making all the right moves and who's team started to bounce back by the end of his first year.  Young charismatic GM.  One of the richest owners in the NFL.  New additions to the stadium.

There are stories all over the place in Duval.  There's no reason to not come to Jacksonville.
And in the end it is reality TV. Many people love that.

When do they typically annouce which team will be in?

Every team has story lines, its all about who is more attractive.
The story just posted to NFL.com says Jags "might have no choice" even though Caldwell said no.

They could technically be forced to do it. But that would be if no other team volunteers.
Caldwell brought up somethings I didn't even think about.
Only if we draft Manziel.

They wouldn't force a team to participate.  That would be a complete disaster on and off camera.  Wouldn't be difficult at all for a team to sabotage the effort.

Quote:"... It wouldn’t be an ideal situation for us," Caldwell told PFT. "We take a lot of pride in our culture, and we’re very particular on who we bring into the organization. So we’ve been able to build a lot of trust from our coaching staff to our players and they know, our players know we have their best interests at heart. It’s hard to build trust with cameras omnipresent.”
