Quote:After watching him on Monday night on ESPN2, I came away impressed with how he carried himself. Does he like to party? Of course and who doesn't?

I watch him make play after play after play and not just running but extending plays and hitting receivers in stride 25 yards down the field. I really think he could be something special.

We just have to make sure we have the right pieces to help him succeed. We need someone who can make things happen when plays break down and then eventually turn into a pocket passer.

I'm starting to warm up to the idea of drafting Manziel.
Manziel contemplating whether he wants to take a paycut by going to the NFL.

Drafting Manziel guarantees Jacksonville some prime time games next season, some excitement to the fanbase, and some national attention.

Drafting Manziel does not guarantee success.

Quote:There is some chatter from Brandt and the Texan's boards about trading for Ryan Mallet, given the recent hiring of Bill O'Brien. O'Brien worked with Mallett in New England. If this long-shot happens, the odds of Bridgewater and/or Manziel being available at pick 1-3 for the Jags will increase.

On a side note, I was around and often watched Staubach, Bradshaw, and later, Elway and Marino. I think Manziel will be exciting to watch, but I see nothing in his game that reminds me of these mentioned hall of fame QBs.

I do not want them getting Ryan Mallett.

See....every good football idea I have, other good coaches have it too.

I knew Mallett is going to be good.

Holy crap dude. He is a backup QB drafted with the 74th pick. Other GM's apparently saw what you don't.

CHILL!!!

Mallet will never ever win a superbwol as a starter.

So an unconfirmed rumor automatically validates your argument that Mallett will be a good QB.

TMD logic.
I'll wait until he declares - and I'll wait until after the combine,  but I'm leaning towards being on Manziel's bandwagon.

Quote:I'll send you a PM that will give you the time that I will post a thread in which will contain the date for my intentions to tweet my target date for emailing my potential agent about scheduling a meeting where we can discuss which date I should make my informal announcement which will, obviously, preclude my formal, unofficial, and official announcements.

Thank you...I was really worried I'd miss it!!

He fell in the draft not because of QB ability or perceived lack of.

Disagree. Or else I'd never have recommended him for us.

Yes, he did.

Do you really believe the stuff you write?
Honestly, this is my guy of the draft. He is a boom or bust, but you gotta take risks. There is just something about this kid, and I'm really sold on him. Im serious, Manziel is going to be a great pro. He just has IT. I love his swagger, and i love his ability to make plays. His knack is his height, and the character issues are really over blown. Yes, he has partied with celebrities, and he does party, he's never been in trouble. He's a natural born leader. The duke game got me hook line and sinker. Just the leadership i saw. This kid is like drew brees and vick combined together. He's small, but he can throw that ball, he can sit their in the pocket and make the throws you want. HIs accuracy is perfect, puts the ball wherever he wants. Yes, he can run, yes, he can't take those hits in the pros. Like i said, that play style could carry over and could affect him. But a good coach can teach him to not take those hits. I really like him as a prospect. Its not all about size. The guy has proven everyone wrong since he started playing.

Baring the texans taking him over Teddy, i think this kid should be the pick. Teddy, Manziel or Clowney. I like Bortles, we shall see his value later on. For sure, Teddy and Manziel will be top 10 picks. Taking Manziel at 3 is not reaching.

The good news is, with Manziel emerging as a potential top 3 pick, we are now in a position where we are guaranteed to walk away from draft day with at least a little bit of excitement for the upcoming year.

Unless of course, DC trades out for picks, which I can completely see happening.

You people are ridiculous.

Ryan Mallett fell in that draft because of "alleged" drug use and character concerns, not because of any huge concerns about his QB ability.

Jesus, people around here will lie or insult just to take the other side of opinions I have.

If the tinhorns brought Joe Namath out of retirement, you would start a new thread quivering in fear about how we should have got him and we won't sniff a division title for another decade. That is your MO.

Also, you know what.... we could just as easily trade for Mallett if our GM saw fit.

Well we have to agree to disagree.  I personally think he will be an epic bust, if he ever becomes a starter.

Read any of the THREE links above that I provided you. They all back my opinion on Mallett.

This move just shows you the genius of the Patriots franchise. They draft a "troubled" guy that they have zero intention of ever playing, unless Brady goes down, or they are up by 50. Knowing, 4 years down the road, a desperate, downward spiraling franchise like Houston will give up valuable draft picks for him.

That is why NE is a model franchise and shows you the kind of moves you can make when you do in fact have a franchise QB on your roster.

For the record, I would take Brock Osweiler before Mallett.

Mallet-head is nothing special and is a choker.

Look at that. I can make up nicknames too.
