After Teddy, there is a pretty substantial drop off and there really aren't a lot of good QB's in this draft, despite other on the site suggesting there would be as many as 9 or 10 with first round grades. I do disagree with them on Bortles though, as I believe he is a lot better than Manziel or Carr.

I've watched about every snap Borltes has taken in college, he's got upside but he's not there yet.. Bridgewater is on another level. As far as Manziel goes, if he can do even a little bit of what he does in college in the NFL he will be a star.

You and many many others have been saying this for a long time.

The Manziel Kids and Carr racists were just a vocal minority.
Hey just curious, has anyone been over to the Texan boards?? I'd imagine vagrantwade has found a new team to root for, given they are likely to take Teddy.

Vito is an expert.....your a moron
It's still 4 months before it matters.

*You're
The QB draft class is as good as whatever article u read. Everyone seems to have a different opinion

Don't usually comment on it. I just thought it was ironic considering....
Bridgewater just has it. The type of guy who makes subtle movements in the pocket, looks defenders off with his eyes, pump fakes etc. He stays one step ahead while guys like Bottles have all the physical attributes but just aren't on the same level mentally and perhaps instinctually.
I believe there are 3 QBs in this draft that would be an upgrade over Henne/Gabbert, namely Bridgewater, Bortles, and Manziel. The rest, including Carr, have low upsides in my opinion, and would have career paths that would look similar to our beloved Blaine.
LMAO at the comment written by Junglekitty.

The irony here is truly epic.

FYI, Vito is quoting experts.  Nobody is calling him one.

To the topic of this thread, there's been a growing buzz around what was originally predicted to be this great QB draft class indicating it's not nearly as good as these same experts thought months ago.  I've seen most of the top candidates in this draft play a few times, and none of them really appear to be a sure thing, including Bridgewater.  If there isn't a guy in this draft available when we pick who really fits the bill as a potential franchise QB, I don't see this team reaching for one.

If you have listened to Kiper or Mel, you would know that the rankings they give are on talent and skill alone. For example, Clowney is and we all know is the most talented player in this draft. Number 1 on their boards. That does not mean they will not be top 10 selections. Kiper today said Manziel won't get passed 8.

Vito is a moron. And he is no expert. We don't know if Teddy or Manziel will be great, but they both are interesting prospects. And this class does have some potential. I agree that if Dave does not deem any of them to be great value or franchise QB, then i agree, pass and get the best value.

NOBODY is calling Vito an expert except for you so you can then call him a moron.  His article references "experts" he talked to about the upcoming draft and the QB talent.  The only person here who seems to have a problem understanding this is you.

I'm laughing at you because you somehow think Kiper has a franchise on being right about player evaluation.  Kiper had Gabbert going #1 to the Carolina Panthers in the 2011 draft.  It wasn't until his final mock draft that he changed that view and predicted Gabbert would go #7 to San Francisco.  He's wrong more often than he's right, which is why he's on ESPN and not making picks for any franchise in the league.

I simply don't see it, but that's me.  He works well in that particular offense, which seems to scheme guys open, against that particular level of competition... but then so have other college QBs in the same system.

I would expect someone so much "better" than his peers to have fared better against them as far as awards and rankings, which he doesn't top any list... except those that think he's the best of the crop.

It's only my opinion, but I don't think he's the best of the crop and think there's a good chance he's not the first QB off the board.  I just can't see an owner giving the keys to the franchise to a QB with such a slight build and production that may not be duplicated at the NFL level.  Just looking at him, he's got the lean build of a speed back or WR.  Something just doesn't add up to me and never has.  There are rumors that his small hands and use of gloves creep out some scouts, too.  I don't see him or any other QB in this draft as some slam dunk, head and shoulders above the rest candidate.  They all have question marks/flags that are significant IMO.

Just about everybody had Gabbert going #1 overall until just before the draft when Shefter tweeted that Richardson had fallen in love with Cam.

Before then, folks felt Richardson was too conservative to take a risk on a boom/bust prospect and was going the safe route with Gabbert (which is funny looking back on in hindsight.)

Which only supports the premise that these "experts" are only marginally better at prognostication than a trained monkey.

LOL.  He's forgotten more about football than you've ever known.   He's getting old and has a few weird opinions and it's fine to disagree with the guy  -  but calling a guy that's covered the NFL for 40 years a moron in a football conversation knda' reflects poorly on you.
