Quote:Why are we cutting Odrick and Thomas? One is solid, the other isn't being used right. New coach gonna fix that right up.Agreed.

Top 5 pick and close to $80 million to spend. That worked out well last offseason too.

Quote:Top 5 pick and close to $80 million to spend. That worked out well last offseason too.It didn't work out in the win column, but it did acquire talent for the next coaching staff.
Ramsey, Jackson, Amukamara and Gipson were all very strong additions. (even though Amukamara was a short term signing due to injury history)
I really feel that Bortles' inability to progress (he Regressed) and the failure of the staff to get consistent disciplined play from their roster stole away any ground made in the 2016 offseason acquisition process.

I would cut House and just keep the other 2. Hopefully Fowler moves to LB/Otto! Also in your situation what happens to big Roy?
12-09-2016, 12:50 PM
You cut players because they don't perform to the level you require, not because it saves you money on the cap.
12-09-2016, 12:58 PM
...to free up money for the massive extensions of Joeckel and Bortles?
12-09-2016, 01:12 PM
I think the guys on the choppingredients block are Parnell,Skutta, and Henne. Parnell if we can find a RT but I could also see Odrick/Alualu getting cut if we take Garrett.

I don't think the roster is as great as many people still (somehow) believe it is. As good as the defense is, turnovers are still few and far between. The offense needs more help than upgrading the QB.

Quote:We also have to possibly pay Telvin, Linder, ARob, Cyprien, Amukamara, Colvin, and Abry Jones.
Maybe Lee? Maybe Bortles?
Jones and Colvin will be cheap.
Amukamara doesn't have the stat production, but he's been decent, so he'll probably command similar contract with decent guaranteed money.
Telvin and Linder are going to make money, but Linder's injuries are going to put a slight dent in the contract.
I don't think ARob is staying here.

Head coach is top priority.

Julius Thomas makes your team worse unless he's in the red zone.

I totally agree. We need a RT and LG at minimum on the O-Line, a starting RB, a blocking FB and possibly a more productive TE. On top of that, I think it should be a high priority to get a return man who is actually a threat to run one back. We lack a return man who can strike fear in opposing cover teams. We have a lot of holes to fill on both sides of the ball and special teams.

I can see House being let go simply because of his position on the depth chart. You can find cheaper CB4s easily.
Prince has played well enough to be signed again. Colvin as well.
Julius Thomas will remain under contract. His struggles have less to do with his ability, and more to do with his being utilized TERRIBLY. Seriously... why are we only targeting him behind the LoS and in the flat? That's not who he is. Send him up the seam!
Parnell could very well be cut after his replacement is Drafted/Signed.
Joke will be let go.
Denard will likely be let go.
ARob is under contract next year. What happens in 17 will determine his future here. Same with Lee.
I could see one of our interior lineman being let go. Reed being the most likely candidate.
And someone on the D-line will be let go and be replaced. Chris Smith, Jordon Hill, Odrick all possible candidates.
Bortles will still be on the roster, but will have legit competition. Because of this, Henne could find himself out of a job. I just get the impression they like Allen enough to keep him as a developmental guy.
WRs like Wynn and Green are likely to be replaced.
Corey Grant will likely be a bubble RB.
That's my random uneducated thoughts.

lol .... a couple of pickups is equivalent to 40% of the OLine.

Lot of money and a top 5 pick.....like every year....it works pretty well....

Yes, we're finally getting beyond taking other teams backups and making them instant #1 starters on the Jags

Sounds like somebody is getting a little impatient with the 7-year rebuild plan

Yeah, ARob is going to be great opposite Dez Bryant.

Indeed.
Though, in fairness, when he signed... he WAS the best CB on our roster.
