I'm getting pretty darn sick of all the QB talk around here so I figured I'd spend the last couple days brushing up on the pass rushers again. Coming into the year I thought Barr would have a realistic shot at passing Clowney as the top pass rusher, but honestly I just haven't seen any development. He is still a one trick speed rush pony who doesn't convert his speed into power nearly as well as he should. Several other pass rushers have been impressed me greatly, however.
My new 10 top pass rusher rankings:
Jadeveon Clowney
Khalil Mack
Kony Ealy
Vic Beasley
Shawn Oakman (don't think he's going to declare unfortunately)
Anthony Barr
Scott Crighton
Trent Murphy
Damarcus Lawrence
Jeremiah Attachou
I think Beasley could fit the LEO mold very nicely here. He's undersized but he's fast and rushes the passer well.

He's be awesome, but I would be surprised if he gets out of the top two dozen picks =/
What about Jackson Jeffcoat? Had a pretty productive season at UT.

I like Jeffcoat a fair amount. I also have Sam, Ford, Breslin, Van Noy, Martin, Reilly, and Marsh as potential day 2 pass rusher picks on my sheet. They all got consideration but didn't quite make my top 10, and I wouldn't highly debate anyone who had any of them in their top 10.
I stayed away from all of the interior and 5 tech pass rushers like Tuitt and Hageman too.
I think a lot are projecting him as a DE in the NFL. I personally like him at 3 tech the most, but I like him at DE as well.
Vic Beasley is going to make a team very, very happy. The guy's burst and speed off the edge is breathtaking.

No way Easley plays further outside than 5 tech. They tried the traditional DE at UF his sophomore year and he was waaaaaaay better inside.

I agree. His first step is insane, and I think the closer he plays to the ball the more effective his first step off the line will be

I disagree. He was swallowed up by FSU's line and didn't register a tackle, if I'm remembering correctly.

How much of a gap do you see between Clowney and Mack? Mack and the rest?

Guarantee that when we get closer to the Draft, more and more people are gonna start ranking Mack over Barr. Just an all-around better football player, IMO.

I agree he is way better inside. Like I said, 3 tech or inside 2 is probably his cat and bag, but he can play 5 tech at LE. Most defensive ends play 5 tech.

Clowney had three sacks this year. One Clemson QB Boyd stepped into.

I didn't see his FSU game, surprisingly. But, either way, I'm not about to judge a guy based off one game. The guy has some pass rushing traits that you cannot teach. He'd be the perfect LEO in our system, but he won't be available in round two, unfortunately.

Very good pass rushers get no statted, it happens. Eugene Monroe no statted Dwight Freeney and Julius Peppers in the same season. Aldon Smith get no statted frequently too, especially the second half of last year when Justin Smith missed games.
Also, Cameron Erving is a really, really good OT. He will be a first rounder.
Quote:How much of a gap do you see between Clowney and Mack? Mack and the rest?
Very small gap. Mack is awesome, the most fun player to scout that I have watched yet. He is so versatile. He could literally be Bowman or Washington pro bowl level if he were an ILB, and he can be Damarcus Ware or James Harrison off the edge.
Ealy had a good game last night and will probably get picked before Sam. Not sure he falls to the 2nd but would be a nice pickup.
