How different is Johnny's pocket presence then Blaine Gabbert's
Quote:He's too small and will get injured frequently in the NFL with his style of play.

If there was any truth to that statement, he would be getting injured frequently at TAMU. I will never understand why people say this kind of crap. Pocket passers who are taller and heavier suffer many injuries too, not just the small guys who run a lot. The problem with his playing style is he does not compensate for his lack of height when he throws the ball.
Johnny is exciting thats for sure. And he does have the talent, but will he be able to control himself. If he learns that running must be a last option, then he could be great. CLE is heavily linked to him so if we were to draft him it probably has to be with the 3rd pick. Im not sure about that, but at least I would be entertained every Sunday.

He's a guy who you know will be exciting at least.. but I think there's a lot more in him than just excitement.  He has "it"... He's got balls so to say.  That is very important when leading a group of men like he will have to.

I could see him being a pretty good pocket passer as well, especially if other teams have to "spy" him because of his running ability, meaning one less dropping into coverage.

If Teddy falls to us at 3,would there be a slight let down?

Is this a sarcastic joke?

I was actually being almost serious. But,with the top prospects having great bowl games, the Jags will be in a great spot at 3.

And if Clowney and Bortles both have great games tonight, then awesome.

Duke's defense is garbage.  NFL defenders are bigger, faster, and stronger.   Do really think Manziel is going to do what he did against NFL defenses like he did with Duke. Manziel will get hurt easy.  Just look at QBs like RG 3 and Michael Vick.
Any scenario where Teddy is available when we pick would be the best possible outcome, IMO.

Cam Newton is doing ok for himself, as is Kap down in San Fran.

He did it against Alabama.  Twice.

There's too much excitement in this thread.   You have to be cold-bloodedly analytical to assess this guy.

What?? What's wrong with the fan base being excited? We're fans. We don't need to be cold-bloodedly analytical. For one, we don't near have access to all the tools that a scout has. Save the cold-blooded analysis for Dave....I bet he is. In the meantime, we're going to be excited having the #3 pick and having the chance of a really good QB falling to us. If Bortles blows it up tonight against Baylor, I'll be jumping thru the ceiling.....lol.

And so is Alabama's? He will not get hurt easily. Dude is thick and tough. He won't need to call running plays for himself like he does now. Will he escape pass rushers and extend the plays so a receiver can get open? What do you think? Hell yeah.

Not sure....but I think I would be overjoyed.
Quote:Remember when Gabbert was the youngest starting NFL QB? Manziel is two months younger than Gabbert.
Manziel is Gabberts opposite, he was a very good exiting player who doesn't have the "Measurables" where has Gabbert did, but he wasn't that good and had a ton of issues that never got fixed.
If Johnny is our opening home qb,Khan will prob have to take the tarps off
I want Teddy or Manziel at 3.. period. Carr and Bortles are so damn overrated and a DE isn't going to change our team around, we have to get a QB and we can't risk going in the 2nd because we flip flop with the other 4-12 teams and a couple of them need a QB.

Quote:The best thing about Manziel's performance last night is it pretty much cemented that the Jags #3 pick will be valuable, more valuable than had Manziel crapped the bed last night.

The #3 would have been a good spot irrespective of what Manziel did last night.

Is it the "ideal" spot?

No.

St. Louis has the power to alter the draft for us in many ways.

But no matter what St. Louis does, we'll be in a position to draft a good player who can be a positive game changer for the Jaguars at 3.
