I'm pointing out that for a team pretty darn well rounded, it's sad we are 2 - 10 and a HUGE part of the reason is Bortles. Don't be delusional.

I can literally see it now.

 

Jags sign Romo for 2-3 years at 20 mil a year.

 

Romo injured after 3 games and gets put on IR with another back injury.

 

Forum blows up and rips the GM for going after Romo and paying him all that money.

One bad year does not make a bad quarterback. I know Bortles deserves a lot of blame for losses this year, but D6 agrees with me you have to spread it around (see my "worst nightmare" thread).

I wouldn't blame a GM for taking a shot on Romo.  He's an incredible passer and didn't start until he was older.  So yes he is on the wrong side of 30 but he didn't start in the NFL early either.

Bortles is part of the problem this year without a doubt, but so is RBs fumbling the ball at the goal line.

 

Punt returners muffing nearly every punt.

 

Receivers regressing and dropping easy passes.

 

Stupid penalties. etc etc

He only sat for 3 years and has been the starting QB for 9 years. That's not counting the 2015 season in which he only played 4 games.

 

37 years old with a crippled back is not a good look.

I agree as well. Who would have thought Lee would be the teams best receiver this year? Yeldon is doing very little. Yes, Bortles has regressed but others have underperformed as well
